During installation of software and error pops up during "Updating Sage Desktop Registration Information"
Invalid Class String if I click ok setup continues and finishes however when starting Accpac another message apears stating "You are not license to use this product"
trying to install and run on a stand alone laptop running XP media center.
Any help would be great.

The first error can be ignored, the Sage Desktop was useless when it was around, and it's been dropped in 5.6

The second error means HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ACCPAC International, Inc.\ACCPAC\Configuration\SharedData isn't pointing to the folder with the license files.

thanks tuba2007 is it possible you could explain how to fix for this issue.

Run REGEDIT and point it to the right folder. It will have *.LIC or *.PLS files.

searched both *.lic and *.pls files found *.lic files in C:\Program Files\Sage Software\Sage Accpac ran regedit went to location suggested and SharedData points to this exact folder.

Contact the person who gave you this package. I've been doing Accpac for 20 years, but have never seen the student version. You must have missed something in the instructions.

it installed on my desktop running windows 7 no problem wanted to install on laptop

What is XP media edition? Maybe that is the problem...
XP home is a load of trash, so I suspect media edition will fall in the same category.

Ok thanks for your help. This laptop belonged to one of my wife's friends who is taking the accpac course in school. Apparently she tried to install software twice before I got it and was unsuccessful. I found this out later I might add. So something must have got corrupted. I reinstalled windows XP and installed all updates for XP. Installed Accpac software and this time everything is working just fine.
Thanks again
