My Access database feeds .asp pages on my website. The pages regularly search for keywords in the database's multi-word text fields. Is there a way to speed these searches by indexing the individual words in the multi-word text fields? (I believe that indexing the text box indexes only the strings in the fields.)

Nope. Is the data in this field several different values of the same thing? Sounds like it, and if so, you should have a different table for this data. But it is, of course, impossible to tell from what you've written.

Thanks for your reply! My text is commentary and thus differs greatly from one record to another, almost no two alike.

In this case, can I assume your "Nope" applies?

Do you know if I get the search ability if I move the dataase to SQL Server? Any thoughts about using a server-based indexing and search tool (ISYS, Onix, dtSearch Web, Surfinity Search)?

Yup, it's nope. I'm an Access guy, so I can't help you with the others. Sorry.
