We have a dedicated phone number coming from shore to the ship and tying into our supply office using a WAT line. However, the phone rings at other WAT #'s on the ship. It appears that CFW has been eliminated. If I do a ld 21, prt, wat,
19 10 ---> (the channel supply is on) the appropriate ATDN is shown for supply.

Thanks,

David

As Ace would want to confirm. If you go to the phone that is supposed to be the ATDN, 6219, can you prove that that phone is in fact 6219. - call it and it rings?

Then, go to the phone that is actually ringing, and call a phone with a digit display, or otherwise confirm what DN that is. there is going to be a revelation I "hope" :)

GHTROUT,

Thank you for your response. The 6219 DN is our Meridian Mail system. I called it and it does answer as Meridian Mail. Not sure where to go from here. This is all new to me and has been dumped in my lap. Thanks again.

I am sorry, I see I goofed, I meant 7357, the DN (I looked at the hunt thinking "DN")

Can you confirm the phoen that is supposed to be the place the trunk rings, is actually the DN the trunk is programmed to ring.

Question: If I call off the ship using a WAT line (we have 16 of them) to try and call back to the ship to test supplies outside number could this cause a conflict? It isn't a problem when I call the other 15 dedicated numbers given out on the ship, just supply, which terminates in supply sometimes and other times it terminates with some of the other WAT lines on the ship.

It looks like this is a wireless set - could it be related to RF, in other words, the wirelss xmitter is cause the confusion? Going to sing off soon here, but I am "willing you to solve it" :)

That may be a possibility.

How did you determine it was wireless? (which you are correct) and how do I change it to a standard 500 class phone software wise. I'll unplug thier wireless and put in a standard analog phone to test it.

I appreciate all your assistance on this matter and the other one you've been responding to.

Good night.

David

As you see TN after TN after TN, of "normal" line phones, a wireless looks almost foreign.

Here's a set of books you will enjoy (20 meg)

If that is too big, this is good too but only 2.5meg

they are compact manuals you can actually navigate. I cannot admit I make them from NTs books and I cant say they take weeks to compile....but I can say, it's worth the time

When you did the following, did more then 1 TN printout?

Also when using 500 type phones, you can put more than 1 phone on a TN, so it could ring on more than 1 phone.

You could have multiple appearances printing the dn should point this out. If you have disabled the cfw

Looking at the DNB I would say there is more than 1 phone punched donw on that 1 TN, if like you say it is ringing at more than 1 phone.

another place to peek, ld 49 prt idc.. and gh is right, a party line is usually hardware.. it can be soft if cls mcra is used on an analog or you have the same dn on two sets.. that route is auto yes, is it also iao?

i don't think idc tables come into play on auto term trunks so ld 49 may not help.. i haven't used analog trunks in way to long

John,

In load 49 I do have that same ext. 7357 shown. However, we use this while we are pierside using a T-1 connection. That is not turned on at this time. We are currently trans/recieve thru a satellite. The signal comes into our radio department and then sent to the ships telex over a WAT channel. For some reason the Supply line is the only one that wants to go to another phone on the WAT channels (we have 16 of them). Also, this only occurs if they are on the phone. If they are not on the phone it rings in thier office. The supply phone has no cfw, but does hunt to 6219 which is our voicemail.

Your reply's are very much appreciated.

David
