I have a mcro that converts a spreadsheet into organized data (the way they want it). One of the functions is that it has to figure up the wage per an hour based on different factors. Hours, overtime, milage (input via msg box), and base pay(hard coded in macro). It works great! However, now I have to figure up how much to charge each location based on the number of hours spent there, the code used (ie job function) and the persons wage (which we just figured out above). If I do not add in milage(just hit ok), it will find the location and code fine on the worksheet and place the correct amount in the cell. If I input any milage, it will not find the location correctly and inputs in to a different Cell. I have triple checked the code and can see no place of how this should effect the output. Even the variant is correct to show the value, but the cell.find messes up.

I have the locations setup as general on the sheet as some of them start with a 0 and excel kept removing it and then none of the finds worked. So far this has been working good till this.

of intrest: location 025 will set in location 620 and location 185 will set in 261.

The spreadsheet can be found at :

I have a macro that formats a sheet like this, but not so much work. My first question is this: I see you ask for the mileage, but do you put it anywhere? Even on a temp 2nd sheet, it could make it easier to later call that cell.

i.e. Sheet2!A1 = empmileage1, etc.

Then your formula would call to the cell. I am not good with vba remembering an amount for later use, because I don't do it much, but this might be a way to not have to deal with it.

Other than that, have you tried doing the rest of the calculation first and putting the mileage at the end? Just trying to figure a way to change the calculation around.

Hi,

It would be alot better if you would focus your question AND your code snippet, rather than throwing it all out there and requiring someone to slog thru lines and lines of code.

Which Find statement is causing the problem?

"If I input any milage, it will not find the location correctly and inputs in to a different Cell. "

Which statement is doing this?

I'd also suggest that your Tempproperty sheet have headings so that it could be used as a TABLE.

Thanks guys for the input.

misscrf - I did try that and it didn't make a difference (I will re-test though as I may have fouled it up before).

Skip - I apologize for my sloppiness. I will try to re-word the question to make better sence. It is not with a particular line of code that causes the problem, it is the over all effect once i enter the milage.

You will have to step thru the code and determine EXACTLY WHERE the problem(s) is/are occurring.

You can't just throw it out here and expect someone to find your problem. No one has your workbook with the data on your sheet running with your code except YOU. It would be like going to the doctor and saying, "Doc, make me feel better!" He's gotta know EXACTLY WHERE you are hurting. That's what we need too.

Skip, I understand that. That is why i also linked the workbook in my OP.

Aside from that, I have stepped through my code and all the values are correct except when it goes to do a cell.find on the final page to copy the data to the correct cell. The values are correct, but the cell selected is wrong and I can't see why it would be. A hidden"feature" to excel, perhaps, lol.

the only thing I can see if it is reading the reference cell incorrectly somehow.
The issue is that it should look from the reference worksheets to say that value "10.00" should be placed in the intersection of row value "025" and column value "7300". It shows the correct address per the cell.find statements, but the actual cell selected is the intersection of row "620" and column "7300".

I do appriate your help but if this is too much of a mess, then I do apologize and we can let this post drop.

Thanks,

Clayton

I wonder if there is some reason that it is offsetting the cell selection. It sounds like it is moving it for some reason. Is it possible that there is data there? I don't understand why you are referencing the row value 025 and column 7300. Why not G25 or whatever?

Wouldn't that be easier?

What do you mean by, "...on the final page ..."

The most critical parts of loops that often take extra effort to design and code, are the EXIT conditions. Sometimes the last execution occurs AFTER you leave the loop, something like...
Code:
do while [i]condition[/b]
   DoStuff
loop
DoStuff 'for the very last condition
of course it varies from case to case.

I would like to thank everyone for the assistance.

misscrf your idea of using "g" in front of the number was the ticket, now I don't have the issue with it not seeing the correct number based on having a leading 0 and it was easy to pull it out later so it looks like it should.
