I've never ran into this before. (weve all said that before!) The recent power outage/brownout in our area left me with a fried voicemail module. I have a Partner ACS R-5 processor with a remote PC card - 308EC Module R 3.0 and Mail VS 5 with a 4 port card. I unplugged the inoperable mail card and when I recieved the replacement I reinstalled with the power off, powered up and everything seemed normal until the first call came in. When a call comes in on line 1 it is immidiatly transfered to line 2 then a prompt comes on and says your call is being transfered to the receptionist and it rings on line 3. VMS cover rings are set to 8 VMS Hunt delay for day is 8 rings -
I'm sort of at a loss as the normal things appear set correctly. Honestly the systems I have work flawlessly so I really don't work on them all the time. Any suggestions?

In System Programming, make sure you have the correct voicemail extensions assigned to #505, Group 7. If all you have is the processor, 308EC, and 4-port Mail VS, then it should be extensions 28, 29, 30, and 31.

I wouldn't say I "hate" my job...it's just that most days, I'd rather get kicked in the nuts repeatedly instead of being here.

Did you replace the Partner Mail VS5 with a Partner mail VS5 or a Partner Messaging?

Thanks guys. I replaced like with like on the system. The hunt group 7 assignments with a 308 module and 4 port card in the mail RS V5 are actually 36,37,38,39 and were the same as before.

I'm glad you got it sorted out, but if your VS mail's ports are 36/37/38/39, then you've either got another 308 expansion card in the system, or you've skipped a slot by having the VS mail in the 4th slot. ACS Processor is 10-17, the 308 in slot 1 is 18-25, and if the VS mail is in slot 2, the slot will be 26-31, with 38-31 being active. If you've skipped a slot, or you have an additional 308 in slot 2, that makes slot 4 34-39, with 37-39 being active.

SLO County - howdy neighbor!

What you describe is either having the wrong members of #505 (go through and make sure only 36-39 are assigned as something may have happened which assigned another random extension) or try taking line ringing off x36-39. I believe this was needed with ACS R6 and PMVS R5 to work properly.

Sorry. Yes skiped a slot. Mail's in slot 4. Actually Tommy I believe you installed this system. AG Kennedy. You know me. Good idea to remove line ringing on those ports. Ill be back there tomorrow.

Sorry for the late response. thanks for everyone's input and here's the resolution. Finally got my telecom guy (one of your old workmates Tommy) to come down and troubleshoot. Seems that there had been an old 308 module in slot 3 that was removed in the past. The system worked fine with Group 7 as 36,37,38,39 for years. When the power outage hit seems it messed with the balance of nature. With the card missing and an empty slot threw it off. We repositioned the cards and reset the group 7 correctly (yes you were all right and I was stubborn) and bingo - all was well with yin and yang. The valuable lesson here is that I held on to the belief that if it worked that way before it should work that way now. Well, humbly I shall flog myself with a patch cable and vow to LISTEN and not assume.
Thanks to all.[yinyang]
