okay, I've got a bit of a funky problem going on with one of my users' machines. it is a straightforward setup with XP pro sp1 and IE6 sp2, updated normally from MS. no software has been installed or uninstalled prior to this problem occurring: when this user goes to her Yahoo mail compose window, the cursor is available in the address window and the subject line. no problem there.
But the I-beam is NOT available in the message window for her to type her email message. I tried a different yahoo account, and the same problem. so I had her sign on with using a different machine and it works just fine, so it is not account related, but something local I suspect.
here's an added bonus to this problem: I installed Mozilla FireFox and this problem DOES NOT EXIST.
so what is going on with IE and how can I fix it? If I recall correctly, you can't just "reinstall IE", since it is native to XP, it tells you something like "a newer version of Internet Explorer already exists. Setup cannot continue."
so what now?
Thanks!
Chuck
but what on Earth could be causing the cursor to be unavailable for that particular window?
