One of my users has a bizzare issue on a laptop running Windows XP Pro. As a little background the following info describes our environment. All latest hotfixes and so forth are up to date on the laptop and we are using Windows 2000 AD structure on our LAN for authentication. I'll also add that we have a BlueCoat proxy server and we're using EIGRP on our primary router to automatically reroute all HTTP traffic back through the proxy.
This user takes his laptop out of the office and uses dial-up back to servers in the office for web, mail, etc. when he's on the road. IE is set to "Dial whenever a network connection is not present". When he comes back from using the laptop outside the office, he docks, boots up and logs into the domain just fine. IE doesn't seem to get the hint that it's back on the network and just brings up stale cached copies of pages unless you do a refresh at which time it states the user is not connected to a network and would he like to connect. Hit connect button and all is well until he leaves the office again and comes back.
We don't have the need to use proxy settings on the individual machines as HTTP gets routed automatically. I've had inconsistent reports from my other laptop users that this happens to them on occassion, but just one user that seems to have the problem all the time.
Anybody else seen this? Any help is appreciated.
Regards,
Ty
