Does anyone have any idea how long a i2007 phone should last? I have a customer that has them in hotel rooms, and they just started dropping like flies. The phones have been in use for about 4 years, system was at 4.5 and just over a year ago was upgraded to 6.0. Any ideas?

Is this the JW Marriott in Grand Rapids, MI? I just stayed there this past weekend and I was quite impressed that they used 1120E in most guest rooms. I saw that they used i2007 in the suites.....just curious because they also just upgraded their CS1000 software.

I'm currently using them in our Hotel suites. When you say dropping, what type of errors are occuring?

Makes me wonder if it is a similar issue ....

Good luck getting Avaya to acknowledge - I would report it to them though as they may have known about this issue for a year or more and they only tell distributors and BIG customers.

Is the issue that they won't boot anymore? That would be crazy if they use the same/similar power supply as the 1100 series.

Are these Marriott hotels? Just curious....I am quite impressed by the JW in Grand Rapids for having such a great phone system, even in guest rooms....They also have a WAN IP cordless set in each room.

I was at a JW Marriott in Indianapolis this past weekend and the phone system was dissapointing....they had a Mitel system with only analog Telematrix phones in each room, a far cry from the CS1000 at the JW Marriott in Grand Rapids!

No it up farther in Traverse City at the casino. I'm starting to lean towards static electricity that may be causing the problem. We had about 10 or 12 go a couple of years ago during late winter, early spring.

The I2007's are a bit finnicky compared to the 11xx series phones. Are you running I2xxx series phones throughout the casino/hotel or do you have 11xx phones as well and do the 11xx phones give you problems as well? Are the phones giving you problems in the casino and offices too?

Can the static electricity be traced back to the Data Rack Room, assuming you have one on each floor of the hotel? Is the CS1000 system plugged into a clean power circuit? Do you have clean power circuits in the data POE switch rooms? Maybe try a few 11xx sets and see if they give you any issues?

Do you have a lot of analog phones in the hotel or are you 100 percent IP? Are you using SIP trunking or PRI's or analog trunks? I've known Analog trunk voltage to screw up equipment as well.

As far as the Casino VERY Nice! I'll have to stay at the Casino. I go up to Frankfort for vacation quite a bit in the summer and fall and stay at a "phoneless" cabin in Elberta, MI.....but maybe I will try a one night stay at the Casino.

Side note, when I come up to the "phonefree" Wayfarer cabins in Elberta, I am going to try a nifty little wifi device that tracks down the wifi signal and lets you connect an IP device to it. I will plug an 1140E SIP phone into the device and trace it back to my system at home and see if it works....and my cabin will no longer be "phoneless" LOL.

We talked to the housekeepers to see if they noticed an increase in static within the last month, than one of the housekeepers told us how she noticed the static when they change the sheets. We found that they change the bedding, than dust, and check the phone. Some of the people check the phone first, since the sets go to sleep, so they have to touch the screen to see if they are working, I have a feeling that they may be discharging thru the screen. We are waiting to here from the repair facility if our suspicions are right.

For now, we have them touching the handset or base first, before they touch the screen.

They only use the i2007's in the rooms, the offices all use the 1100 series. We are going to look into whether the 1165e might work better in the rooms.

The Comm Closets are all on filtered power, and all racks are grounded. They really planned this place right.

Hi Ted,

Sounds like a great CS1000 system and setup, I will definitely have to check the casino and hotel out the next time I am up there.

Sorry to hear you are having these difficulties with the i2007s. What you said on here is really interesting in regards to the static electricity. Avaya really should be on top of this to keep their game up....there are tons of i2007s out there still. Like I said the JW Marriott in Grand Rapids has the i2007s in their hotel suite rooms. The recently just upgraded to the latest CS software as well. Maybe it would be worth giving them a call to see if they had any problems?

The 1165E may be a good alternative and I am sure you can get a truckload of those in bulk a lot cheaper than buying 1. Those would look pretty cool on the Casino Floor too, wouldn't they? lol....along with all the slot machines and lights!
