I shipped a several working i2004 phase 2 phones from one site to another. The new site would have a different DHCP scope. The working phone now hangs on "Starting DHCP" message.

I suspect the phone is attempting to use a cached IP from the original site, as a result hangs.

Question 1:
Is there a way to clear the cached IP setting.

Question 2:
On some phones I notice 'cacheip' is a configurable option on some i2004's, however this option is also not appearing on all phones regarless of firmware.

Your help / response on both questions is appreciated.

I discovered that the set is actually phase 1 (angry face). I'm going back to my supplier to get them replaced as I did purchase phase 2. Does anyone know what the most recent version of software is to support i2004 phase 1 phones?

Replied to your other post re firmware. Since Nortel stopped selling the "phase 1" phones in January 2005 and they actually went end-of-life in May 2008, I would seriously question your supplier as to what they are doing.

for the record I had a similar issue a while back before we swapped all of our phase 1 phones out. I had a phase 1 phone operating in a single Baystack 460pwr switch along with a mix of phase 1 & 2 i2002's & i2004's

We added a Nortel Baystack 470pwr 24 port and configured as a stack. If you unplugged certain phase 1 phones and connected them to the 470, they hung at starting dhcp then went to dhcp server unreachable and restarted in a loop.

This was on a site which kept it's same addressing scheme and it was completely random. We ended up changing all phase 1's out anyway so it didn't cause us a long term issue but was a head scratcher a the time.
