I made numerous tries to access the AMC with no luck using primary DNS 8.8.8.8 and pinging from the VxWorks shell:
sync.mitel-amc.com to test but no luck
Whatelse do I need to configure and
what do you get upon successful access to AMC .
How can you ping the AMC from the 3300 ESM commands.
frustrating !!
The controller is new and has not been licensed yet
please help

@danramirez, the date issue hasn't been a thing for quite some time. It now syncs and sets the time for you.

@xplus360 no ping, no work. Check the DNS, try pinging the IP 216.191.234.91

If you can ping the IP but not DNS, then DNS is not working.

If you can't ping the IP, well, there's your problem.

Try with the software installer. What i normally do is I share my Internet connection from my mobile to laptop.

By using the installer it is actually your laptop who will contact the amc and don’t need to worry about dns and firwall issues

@kwb, you are correct. Date not affecting anymore

I entered at VXworks shell:

....> ping "8.8.8.8" and ...> Ping "212.191.234.91" but they both returned : "no answer from .." still, I cant get to the AMC

what next for me please thanks

The controller does not have internet access if you cannot ping valid internet addresses.

Fix the issue with the networking.

Thanks @kwbMitel, got it after using cat cable to connect direct to the router to give access to the controller.
Thanks to all above that contributed

Please allow me re-open this issue again:

I have an MXe MiVB 7.2 connecting to a Linksys Router E1200 for internet access.
Now I want to configure the MXe to access the AMC but got no where despite the Pings and Telnets

This is what I configured.

Router: IP Address 192.168.254.149 /255.255.255.0 and GW Address 192.191.254.251 obtained by ipconfig

Laptop: IP address 192.168.254.149 obtained with dynamic allocation for wireless connection to the Router

Mxe: IP address set to an unassigned IP address 192.168.254.243 obtained using ping command
GW Address set same Router Gateway 192.168.254.251
L2 Switch IP same as GW IP Addr 192.191.254.251
Pri DNS 8.8.8.8

Connected MXe serial port using Putty and also LAN cable to the PC NIC Port

License & Options ARID retrieve gets me error 79 or cannot connect the AMC

Are the above settings correct please

Do you have the ARID configured? If this is a new installation you have to access AMC and create an ARID or CLEAR the hardware id if this is a replacement controller.

I suppose you're entitled to your opinion, I'm just not going to suppose very hard.

Firstly let me rectify an error regarding the IP Address of the Laptop which should instead read 192.191.254.11

Yes, the MXe is new and I have created the ARID in the AMC

Is my configuration setting regarding the IP and GW addresses of all the devices above correct please

I had to install software to 4 brand new MXe III controllers, MiVB 8.0. They all failed to sync licenses. As soon as I set the present time the licenses sync correctly. Time was originally set to something like yesr 1970. So... I think setting the time is still required.

Cheers

Danramirez, The Time is OK but, me too, I do not think my IP & GW settings as alluded to by @Xplus360 above are correct.
Could you please help us with a sample of your working IP and GW Addrs configurations.

Your IP address for gateway looks wrong. Should it be 192.168.254.251??
Your L2 Switch also has to have a unique IP address in the same subnet(maybe 192.168.254.242, if available)

Looks like there has been some typos with the IP addressing.

Corrections:
MXe RTC IP Addr: 192.168.254.243/255.255.255.0
GW Addr: 192.168.254.251

Local Connection: 192.168.254.139

ISP Router ( Linksys E1200): GW Addr; 192.168.254.251

when I telnet : open sync.mitel-amc.com 8222 , I got the SSH-1.99-openSSH_3.7.1p2
: open register.mitel-amc.com 443, I got " connecting to AMC...." and stays on permanently

Please I beg your indulgence here to explain what am trying to do:

I have an CXi for Demo configured for MiVB
Now I got a new MXe III with MBG features that I want to register and replace the CXi with all its licenses as the DEMO.
I created ARID for the new MXe but observed that the product application shows Mitel Border gateway. Can I still deassign the CXi licenses and reassign to the MXe so that SRC, Teleworker, SIP trunling and DECT can be on one platform . This could the reason for my problem of not being able to access and retrieve the Licenses or could it be Installer software and Controller conflict.

This should have been quite simple. Moving from the Cxi to MXe would have involved CLEARING the hardware id at the AMC and then sync the MXe through the license form. The new hardware id would have been assigned. I'm not clear on how the ARID came up as MBG unless the boarder gateway blades were applied to it.

I suppose you're entitled to your opinion, I'm just not going to suppose very hard.

The backups are not compatible to restore a CX to an MXe.

You need to remove all associated programming from any modules installed (PRI, Quad CIM, Other) and any associated programming with the Analog Main Board (or option board if it exists)

Be Aware that the PRI card and Analog Main/Option are not compatible with the MXe, you will need new hardware for these.

In otherwords, I cannot use one platform to house the standard MIVB functions as well as the MBG ones. I know of systems that have all these embedded : Collab, teleworker, SRC, Mobile Twinning, dynamic extension and video/Audio conferencing as well as the standard PBX functions but seems Mitel would require two platforms for these. Am my right please ??
