I have an IP Office running 9.0.500.972 with a group that has every extension in it used for paging. The phone that does the page has a button programmed for Group Paging and that Group's extension number as the Action.

What is happening is when a user is in the middle of dialing a phone number using an intercom, 9 then the number, and a page comes through it interrupts the dialing and they have to start over. Is there any way to fix this?

have him activate his dnd when making a call then this will disable him from receiving a page

joe2938 so what you are suggesting is that everytime someone wants to make a call they should go into DND then make the call then at end of call take DND off.

Seems like a round about way

no you asked how to stop this from happening and what I told you will work, other wise just wait until the page is over and then redial the number, it is working as designed as they are all in the paging hunt group. Other option is to remove them from the paging group but you probably do not like that answer as well.

Hi Joe
Its not that I didn't like your answer. It just seems strange that Avaya would call this a feature, that a page would take priority over a user trying to make a call.

I feel your pain, maybe there is a setting somewhere that will prevent this, I will research and will post if I find a solution for you.

Under extension I see you can disable the speaker phone and I see dial or group paging needs this for it to work according to the help files so maybe that is an option for you to disable the speaker phone under the extension tab.

This doesn't happen on my system. As soon as I lift the handset and someone else makes a page I am excluded from the group.

Probably different phones and different methods of dialling. If you're dialling en-bloc (typical for SIP devices) then the IP Office doesn't know anything is happening on the phone until the last moment, meanwhile on non-en-bloc others the IP Office starts receiving your digits and so knows that your doing something right from the first digit.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Hello All I have an update.

I have been to the customers site and did extensive testing as I could not recreate the problem on our in house system.

Customer has SIP Trunks and Idle Line Preference selected as well as a pre-programmed button to dial the external access code.

Things were happening as a coincidence as a page was made and the user pressed the dial out button and pick up the handset all at the same time the page page would come through the handset, probably waiting for the conference button to be press to connect to the person who is paging the customer felt this was a disconnect in fact it wasn't.

To solve the issue, while a page is occurring the user has to press a free intercom rather the using idle line preference because the idle line it tries to grab is the line with the page coming over it.

I hope my explanation makes sense
