Hello folks,
After suffering a crash, I lost the driver for my HSP 56 Micromodem, and had to reinstall the driver (which I found on the Conexant web site).
The driver installed without a problem, and according to the "Modems" utility in Control Panel, it is installed on COM3, and working. (When I run the diagnostics, I get a little dialog with some AT commands and responses.) Device Manager does not report any conflicts.
BUT... the dialer application claims that no modem is installed, and it's "Select modem" dropdown is empty. It seems it will only look on COM1, COM2 or LPT1 for the modem. This applies to both the proprietary dialer (ntlworld - RYDIAL.EXE) and a standard dial-up networking connection - neither will see the modem.
In Control Panel, as well as the usual "Modems" icon, there is also a separate "HSP Modem" icon - this provides some option buttons to select a different COM port, however all options are greyed out!
I'm sure it was working fine on COM4 before the crash though... how do I get the dialer to see the modem?
Yours in perplexity, and with thanks in advance,
Andy.
