Hi All,
I am in India and want to go abroad for a job. I have heard from some of my friends that there are many companies who likes to keep persons from abroad. They call them on their own fair.
I don't know is it true?
If yes How can I find such companies?
I don't want to go through travel agents as it has become dangerous here to go through them.

Thanks and Regards

Hi,

I did it (sort of) what I did was that I got classified ads from newspaers and got in touch with recruiting agencies - I then flew over for some interviews and eventually got a job. There are a couple of things that I hadn't anticipated.

1) Living in a new country is nothing like going there on a holiday - be sure you're aware of how the tax systems work and how much money you'll be earning and the cost of living to give you an idea of how much you'll have to spend each month.

2) Culture changes - sometimes even the smallest thing can appear like a big deal.

3) Friends and family - you might get a bit lonely at first until you make some friends

4) The job itself - choose wisely because you can feel as if you're a long way from home if things aren't going well

5) I found accents difficult to decipher :(

I hope you don't think I'm trying to put you off - I'm just trying to tell you about some of the things I encountered when I made the move. I think overall I'm glad I did it but it hasn't been all plain saling.....

Best of luck,
Tom

Thanks Tom for your advise.
I always look into classifieds but cannot find any such requirements. Anyway I am trying.

Thanks for your reply too...

Maybe you could do a search in google? Or maybe you could look for a locally based job that involves travel - once you get out to a place you can look around and see what's going on....

If you're looking for work in the US, you'll need to find a company which will process your H1b Visa application. I did a Google search and found this:

BTW, I have no idea who these people are - they might be a scam. Be careful in your dealings -- someone might attempt to charge you a lot of money for otherwise free services.

Any chance you can move to Bangalore? I understand that is one of the high-tech areas in India.

A lot of Indians work here in Australia (not as far from home as the US and more cricket gets played)

is the Australian Government site for people looking to move to / work in Australia and will have all the info you need.

Depending on what you wanted to do, you would need a certain Visa... You're not allowed to hold a job on a Tourist Visa.

If you're between 18 & 30 we have a working holiday program that allows you to stay in Australia for 12 months and do temporary / casual work. A kind of try-before-you-buy scheme.
