Hi,
I've been asked to look at an IP Office system for someone. The problem is the IP Office manager has been deleted (previous support guy) and only Voicemail Lite remains.

I have the IP address of the system and know its an IP Office 406 v1, but do you know how i would find what version of software its running to get the correct IP Office manager version?

Thanks

Can you connect to the PBX with your own Manager software (on laptop, ...). Even if you can't log in, the PBX that shows (in the login screen) will tell you the software version....

Or you can check the VM lite version. Depending on this you can choose the corresponding Manager version (see tech bulletins for this).

With a "recent" Manager version you can login to older systems too. If not, you can always reinstall the software (I never experienced much problems with installing / uninstalling the Admin suite)

Well, i haven't tried with any version of software yet.

I have access to all versions of IP office Manager via Avaya but i wasn't sure which one to use.

Are so suggesting that if i just get the latest and try to connect via my laptop when i click on Open Configuration from IP Office and it scans the network it will tell me the version of the software.

(In fact looking at my IP Office manager 6.2 i've just noticed the Version column)

406v1 will not go above 3.2.

You can use a 3.2 manager or above to read a 3.1.

If the version is 2 or below then you will need version 2.

Not true. VM Lite has been version 2.1 since, well 2.1!!! Avaya didn't put anymore development into it after 2.1 so kept delivering that version. Call Sstatus is similar I think.

Managers of the newer type (3.2+) are supported on 2.1+, but have a couple of problems with 2.1/3.0DT systems.

Get your Business Partner to give you link to the correct Admin suite for use on your kit.

Get your DTE cable out of your laptop case (every ipo engineer should have one!!!)
Connect it to the IPO.

Type:

AT <enter>
at-debug <enter>
system <enter>

This should show the software version including ipaddress in hex.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!
