When using external paging on a 3300 I've always used the 5485 Paging Unit (50001754) to connect to an amplifier, works well but expensive for what it is.
Here's how one of our locations Paging unit is set up.
I'm not the one who set it up. I'm just curious if I set up the new site the same way or if you prefer a different approach
Easy to install it is a box that has a Amphenol connector which you can use to connect to the amplifier and a NIC to put on the network, with regard for programming check out the help file it will explain how to set it up.
RAMitel
I checked out the help file and the programming looks reasonable.
Can you please explain more about the Amphenol Connector, is it something like this connector or different?
do you have a preference on what amplifier make/model to use with this set up. I will need a 400W amplifier
The Page port on the back of the CX-II is designed to connect to an amplifier. The limitation is that you cannot page over phones at the same time.
The kludge that you've posted where the speaker leads of the set are extended to an amp allows Paging and ringing to that set to be over loudspeakers. (might blow your amp as it is not designed to work like this)
The designed method for set paging over loudspeakers involves a 5485 paging unit.
How does this need to be used?
[ul]
[li]Paging over loudspeakers only[/li]
[li]Paging over sets and over loudspeakers simultaneously[/li]
[li]Paging over Loudspeakers and Paging over sets separately[/li]
[/ul]

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.
Use paging port. Follow help file on board CX and its easy. As per SXwizard and others. You can still page over sets but not simultaneously. I have one site set up like this with LS paging and set paging with 3 distinct paging areas. Was a wiz to set up. (once I got them to stop turning the volume down to off on the paging amp because they didn't think they used it any more....)
If you like, but the analog main board in the controller already has the hardware you need, so if your paging amp is within wire distance of the controller, that would be the easiest solution.
Here's a picture of the Atlas Sound 400W Amp that I'm wanting to use for this setup.
Since I will be using the RJ11 "Paging Port" on the Mitel. How will it connect on the back of the Amp?
