I was told with digital phones you can set up a name directory in the switch so you can find a person's extension right off of your phone display. This would be an ENORMOUS help to us since we are a resort who gets heavy traffic to our operator. Can anyone provide me with instructions on how to configure this or a link. Thank you ever so much!
Travis

NTP says to use Corp. Directory utility you need MAT 6.6 or higher. Do you have MAT 6.6?

Not sure what MAT is since I'm basically a Move-Add-Change Tech, but if you can provide me a link to some PDF's I'll research it. Thanks Travis B

I know nothing about MAT myself, but i am pretty certain that if you had it you'd know it already. It stands for Meridian Administration Tool. How do you currently make changes on your PBX?

I make changes in the terminal window. We do have OTM, but I would rather work in the terminal.
I have been looking for info on how to configure the Corporate Directory. I did find out how to export the Corporate Directory out of OTM. It's currently sitting on the desktop as an Excel file. If anyone can tell me what to do from here, I'd really appreciate it. There doesn't seem to be much helpful information as far as the configuration.
Thanks TRavis

sorry but i haven't had to install that, our operators do a find against a excel, i have installed pc consoles, they allow name lookup from the switch. mat was the old ver of otm, and i have it but don't use it, takes to long. with nortel if you learn a new gui interface they will make you buy a differnt one to learn.

Hi, I am new and this is my first post. Corporate Directory is an OTM application. Within OTM, it is under the utilities menu. It is documented in the OTM manual 553-3001-330_1.00.pdf on page 173. You simply generate the directory from OTM and it is uploaded to the switch. Then, you must give the user Corporate Directory Allowed class of service. I just did this yesterday on my Succession system and it works great!

Hope this helps.

Chris

I went to Nortel's Website and typed in 553-3001-330_1.00.pdf but it doesn't seem to find it. Would you happen to have this PDF? I have been trying to find this information for about 3 or 4 weeks. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Have you registered for access on the Nortel site? If not, you will not be able to see the documentation.

Try going to
Get a login ID and setup a profile for yourself. You will find there is much more there after you have a login.

I registered, logged in and did a search for 553-3001-330_1.00.pdf and "Corporate Directory". The latter brings up a page which will link you to "Technical Documentation", but when I click the link I don't find anything.
If anyone can provide me with a direct link I'd be very grateful. Thanks Travis

We have OTM 2.01 and I have looked through the Optivity Installation and Configuration manual and there is just a short blurb about Corporate Directory not working correctly in a client\server environment....or something.
I have searched the forums and haven't been able to find a way to configure this feature. I have also asked our technical sales rep at Sprint and he can't seem to dig up this info either.
All I have been able to figure out is how to Export the CPND data to an Excel file from Optivity.
I hadn't specifically looked for "LDAP". I have only searched for "Corporate Directory". Are there other search key word that I need to be including?
Thanks Again

Here are some lines from the manual (sorry if it is too long).

Upload configuration

The Corporate Directory upload is configured using the predefined M1 Corporate Directory report in OTM Corporate Directory. To configure the upload:

1 From the OTM System window, select Utilities > Corporate Directory. The Corporate Directory window opens

2 In the Corporate Directory window, select the M1 Corporate Directory predefined report. You cannot add a new field, modify the existing fields, or delete any fields in this report. It is very important that you select the M1 Corporate Directory Predefined report. This report is the only report that can be uploaded to systems for use with the Corporate Directory feature.

3 Use one of the following three methods to access the report properties window:

• Double-click on the highlighted line.
• Click on the properties button in the toolbar.
• Select File > Properties.

Any of these selections display the report properties.

4 Click the General tab. The Directory Members list shows the systems that are available to configure.

5 Check the boxes corresponding to the systems from which you will be collecting data. The Data Fields and Output tabs are fixed: you cannot change the information in these tabs.

6 Click the Upload tab to configure the upload members, target systems, dialing prefix, and upload schedule.

The Upload Members frame contains a list of available Succession 1000M, Succession 1000, and Meridian 1 systems.

7 Check the boxes corresponding to the systems to which you want the corporate directory data uploaded.

Once a system is checked, a Target Selection dialog box appears with a list of available target systems.

8 In the Target Selection dialog box, check the systems from which you want to collect the corporate directory data.

9 Click OK. The Dialing Prefix frame allows you to set any access codes required when dialing between systems.

10 Click the appropriate radio button to choose whether to get the dialing prefix automatically from the system, or to set the prefix manually.

If you choose the Get Prefix Manually option, you must then use the Dialing From/To drop-down box to select your systems, and then type in the dialing prefix.

If no dialing prefix is required, such as when you are using Coordinated Dialing Plan, where no extra digits are required to call between systems, you can leave this field empty.

If you choose Get Prefix Automatically, the dialing prefix is retrieved from the system, but the upload may take longer than using the Get Prefix Manually option.

The Upload frame allows you to schedule upload of corporate directory data.

11 Determine whether you want to automatically upload data or schedule the upload to occur at a specific time:

If the Disable automatic upload and schedule upload time check box isunchecked, the corporate directory data is uploaded automatically afterthe corporate directory report is generated.

If automatic upload is not disabled, your request is sent to the scheduler queue after the report is generated. The scheduler executes the task within the next minute. If there are tasks in the queue that have a higher priority
and are scheduled to be executed at the same time, they are executed first.

If the Disable automatic upload and schedule upload time check box is checked, the Schedule button becomes enabled and you can schedule the upload to occur separately from the report generation.

Hello all,

First of all i would like to thank the posters in this forum. Thank You! You do a great job of helping us newbies without making us feel dumb for being new to this.

Now for my question. We are in the process of migrating from MAT to OTM. We are trying to get our extension detail reports set up in OTM and need to do some of them in .csv format. Can this be done? The only fomats i have available are screen, rtf, html, and snapshot.

Thanks,
Bito

I'm trying to get the OTM (excel Format) file to upload to the switch (CS1000S). My ? is how??? I have I2004 phones and the users would like to use the directory key. Any help would be great! Thanks Nate

All these operations can be done without any administration tools like OTM. It can be done manually.
First, you must have access to pdt level. From there, change directory to /u/db then send your file with rx cpdir000.csv (000 for cust 0) command.
Then, the first time you enter that file type symload.
Then INIT_CORP_DIR or UPDATE_CORP_DIR.
You can then display it by typing cat cpdir000.csv

You file MUST be in that format:
Text file
comma separated
First field Lastname
Second field Firstname
Third field Number
fouth field Designation

First and second fields together max 24 caracters
3rd field 24 caracters
4th field 24 caracters
Carriage return after the last entry

All that, except file filling, can be done with Procomm script.
Ask for it...

I am told that the directory can only be searched via <lastname>,<firstname> order. And it would not accept a blank in the lastname field.

I can search by using only a single digit in lastname, I cannot limit the result by giving a single letter in the firstname field.

Does anyone know a way to search the directory using first name or initials? Or a more flexible way of searching the directory?

Many thanks.
