Guys,

We have been defending a mitel solution for a financial institution, our proposal includes mcd, mbg, resiliency, redbox, micollab, etc.

We have been told that the customer will have a look at asterisk as well.... From my point of view they are wrong if a financial institution deploys asterisk and i may have my own arguments.

However, do you know of any mitel document available on MOL that lists the benefits of installing a mitel system and not an asterik

I would appeciare any information guys

Everything you quote should be Virtual...vMCD vMAS...Number one thing people that jump on the SIP bandwagon dont realize is the most costly item in any comminucations platform are phones and SIp or No SIP you still have by them unless you go softphone everywhere. SIP is fine but there is still no standard which would bother me to be my complete communications platform.

I would doubt that there will be any documents defending a Mitel against an Asterisk as I am sure that Mitel doesn't put a lot of effort in defending against them. Avaya, Cisco, Microsoft Shoretel sure but Aasterisk I doubt it. That said I am very surprised that a finaancial institution would think of going with an open source product. Not saying they are wrong but they are usually the most cautious customer out there least in my experience. Of course I would think the big difference is a company with dedicated resources for R&D, bug fixes etc and offices around the world. Hundreds of trained techs world wide against an open source yet very cabable product that can be highly customized ( if you have the right people ).

Let us know what they decide.

You can't duct tape stupid.

@danramirez

I took a look at how asterix sells itself to see if there were any points there that could be debated.

Basically, they say nothing at all. Feature rich, competitive, low cost, blah blah blah.

Personally, I would approach the customer and tell them flat out that if they are even considering Asterix you would rather not have them for a customer.

That should say everything you need to without saying anything at all.

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

Ask them the ease of programming ? Unless you understand Asterix , it can be tough to program features etc . Especially in a large envireonment !!!
