I'm trying to figure out how (or if we can) access the directory from an internal extension. If I call from the outside and our auto attendant picks up, I can dial 9 to get the directory.
I know I can use Superkey > Phonebook, but I find that method less than intuitive. I tend to forget to press 0 to do the actual lookup, and sit there wondering how to do the search after I've entered a partial last name.

Any tips?

TIA

The Auto attendant directory is a list of users that exsist in the voicemail.
The 'Phonebook' is a list of names that have a number internal external etc.
Mitel does have applications to access the phonebook UCA is one of them.
OpsMan and now MCD 5.0 have an AD connector integrated directory service (IDS)
The Phonebook although handy is not the most intuitive of applications for lookups it is handy more for labelling numbers so they can either be displayed or identified.

So back to my original question albeit worded differently:

Is there a way to directly dial the auto attendant from an internal extension (so I can then dial 9 for the auto attendant directory) and if so, how?

Thanks for the info you shared, Supernova

To use the AutoAttendant internally will require a bit of programming.
AA normally works via an external trunk.
It is possible to to replicate this using IP trunking loopback if you have it licensed.

Don't you just dial 6000 for VM (or whatever pi,ot number you use for VM) and press * to back out to the AA.

For example if you have your own Voicemail, dialling 6000 you need to press * once to back out of your voicemail to the prompt "please enter the mailbox number" press * and you will get the thankyou for calling, dial the number of the user you wish to contact or press 9 for a company directory.

If you dial from a number that does not have VM you need to press * only once.

Yes this will work however it is not as intuative as it would be if dialled in externally.

System speedcall with the extension of your choice directed to 6000P**9 (or 6000P*9 depending if set has VM or not) or to <ARS lead digit><external number>P9. Something like that.

Users will have only an extension to dial to reach VM directory.

Alternatively, with NuPoint, make a call director going straight to the directory option.
