From the time we launch the sw installer, roughly how much time before the switch(3300icp) is ready to accept calls again? My dealer is coming in the morning and its been a couple years since we've done it. We're going from 5.2 to the latest version of 7. Thanks, Steve

You are looking at a minimum of 1 hour. It depends on a few things like Embedded VM and the amount of messages that are in mailboxes, or if you are backing up call history. Might be as much as 2 hours, as I have had a instance or two when I had to restart the Software Installer Tool.

My Biggest problem is that I almost always believe what I tell myself.

If the upgrade is done from onsite (Local Lan) the total downtime should not exceed 1 hour when everything goes according to plan.

If anything goes wrong, rare but possible, the total downtime depends on the problem and experience of the tech doing the upgrade.

My worst case was 2.5 hours(I made a mistake). My majority have been 45min - 1hr. A few have been as little as 30min.

There is an island of opportunity in the middle of every difficulty.
Miss that though, and you're pretty much doomed!

Hi,

To save time, be aware of the release note's...
You say you want to upgrade from v5 to v7...many changes appears since then...

Take care... :)

Now, it's about French users too !!!

I upgraded from 5.2 to 6.1 and that took 1 hour and 40 minutes.I did have quite a big database though. So my estimated time would be,due to the big jump from v5.2 and new features on software level v7 I would say to be on the safe side, 2.5hours until everything comes back to normal and alarm free.

There's a lot of factors in play. Network bandwidth and controller type are the 2 biggest factors. A 100-user is going to take longer than an LX or MXe. I've seen them take anywhere from 30 mins. to nearly 2 hours.

I would say 2.5 hours. You will need to use full install procedure. If you've got a spare or system which you can take out during the business hours you can install a new system on it and restore backup from the main system. Wait for databases conversion. When system will try to reboot just swap the HDD. At this point 12 minutes requred for the system restart. Done.
