I have a customer who bought an srst solution, only to find that the system can't handle different timezones! This was over six months ago, so how long should they endure the woeful limitations of the system before demanding a refund?

I hear ya.

I've been watching for this as well.

Since we last talked on this subject I've now implemented a similar situation as yours. Thanks to you, I was able to properly advise the customer and they were able to make an informed decision on the solution.

Rel 5 is supposed to have quite a lot of fixes/enhancements acording to the buzz. I hope this will be one of them.

Anyone else have a more informed viewpoint? What's the latest on Rev 5 being released?

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

Release 5 does have multiple time zone support and should be release around Sept 2011.

Likely time display on the phone is considered low priority, non-performance impacting. In other words, a "cosmetic issue". It's on the radar screen to get fixed but obviously isn't on the front burner. 3Q-2012 is more than a year out. Also in terms of prioritization you have to consider how many (or how few) customers are being affected & what size is/are the customer(s).

Based on what kwbMitel says you should be able to get release 5 @ no charge in 90 days or so.

For your sake I hope SRST is easier to accomplish on the Mitel than it is on the POS I'm now supporting. :)

Location based time zones will update the phone clock in MCD 5.0.
System in New York at 15:00, Remote phone in LA will show 12:00

If the timeline is of essence then you should consider putting the customer up as Trai site. This should start last week July first week of August.

Unless the terminology has changed, I believe you want to nominate the site for a "Controlled Introduction" release. You should contact your area TAM (Technical Account Manager) to get this process started.

Does Mitel even have TAMs anymore?
