how i can FTP the file "mainos.st.Z" to "/u" Directory

Hi

i am trying to repair a corrupted MGC Card. Gold Image on Board is defective.
There is a procedure to reinstall the CSP Gold Image described in the distributors Troubleshhoting Guide:

Removing the CSP to make MGC boot from Gold Image
Steps to Put the Gold Image
• FTP the file "mainos.st.Z" to "/u" Directory
• Execute the command copyImageToFlash "mainos.st.Z", 4
Commands to remove the CSP and make it bootable from Gold Image
• Execute the command diskFormat all
• Execute the command MGCIPClear
After one reboot, MGC boots with Gold Image (like brand new card from Factory).

The problem is i can`t FTP the file "mainos.st.Z" to "/u" Directory
Can someone tell me how i can do this ?

are you sure the the gold image is corrupt how far through the boot process does it get? I have done the following for one which only got as far as the <CTRL>B bit:

1) reboot the MGC
2) as it is booting type <CTRL>B just after the creation date is printed and the [VxWorks Boot] prompt should be displayed
3) at the prompt type in test
4) choose option b to change the boot options
5) select option 2 to force CSP to boot from gold image once
6) select option 0 to return to previous menu
7) press return key to exit menu and return to prompt
8) enter @ at the prompt
9) the MGC will boot the gold image

To format the compact flash from the gold you must press <CTRL>I when prompted during the MGC gold boot.
This will bring up a VxWorks prompt ->.
At the prompt enter diskformat "all" then mgcIPClear
This will format the MGC's internal compact flash.
Reboot the MGC and enter the IP information when prompted
When it registers to the call server it will automatically upgrade

If this fails and the Gold image is corrupt I believe you can put a good CF from another working card to get it booted up to do your ftp and copy image to flash. I have not tried this yet.
