Hi everyone,

I'm new to the IP Office so be gentle to me. I have a IP Office V2 with 7.0 (27) software. I have 4 - 1416 digital phones to install. There is a Combo 6210 Digital / Trunk card in the system. When I plug the phones in, the display shows "Waiting FW Upgrade". Where do I go from this point? HELP!!!

In the Manager program you need to put the source for the firmware eg IP address of manager PC. Alternativly you can upload the firmware to the sd card & select this as the source using the drop down box.

OK so on the phone display, all I see is the letter "a" and no dial tone no buttons light up. I looked in the Manager where to put the address of the Manager PC, but did not see it anywhere. Any suggestions?

take a course, read the manual, get someone else that knows how to do it to help.
Any of these is a valid option.

Well Joe, that is a good solution for someone that has lots of options and money to go with it. However I don't have either and this was put on me at the last minute. So your answer is useless to me. Thanks for your input thought!

Seeing that nobody else answered lets try the basics first, and thanks that you didn't take my remark too serious.
in the programming under system there is a file server type, make sure it is set to the memory card so that the system takes the files from there.
also one more, the system will only upgrade one phone per port until it is rebooted, very annoying but true.
try it and let us know if any of that worked.

Well this forum is for professionals in a certain field to pose technical questions or difficult issues to fix, in hope of an answer/resolution, it isn't to offer free support or basic training to end users. So Joe's answer is probably the most relevant :)

Live is hard for guys coming from pure Nortel shops and especially small shops.

Joe, I want to thank you very much. You helped me get out of a pinch and I truly appreciate it. If you should need any Nortel help in the future, please let me know. I'm certified on all Nortel voice products and one of my best friends was one of the original designers of the Nortel BCM. And for you amriddle01, I've been a tech in the business since 1977 as well as owning my own business doing nationwide tech support on Nortel products. So I think I qualify as "professionals in a certain field to pose technical questions or difficult issues to fix, in hope of an answer/resolution". Have a nice day my friend.

Thanks,

Thanks for the star Bob and I am afraid I might just come back to you for Nortel help because we have more and more customers coming to us with BCM's and older stuff and as much as I like reading manuals sometimes a quick advice beats hours of reading.

WOTRS, i have one tip for you.
The IPOffice is on it's best when you run it in IPOffice mode and not all those other mupped modes like partner and norstar modes or whatever they are called.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Tilpeter, I agree with you. I've worked on the IP Office for a while now, this was the first in the Partner mode which I think was a bad idea. I haven't seen the Nortel mode yet and I hope I don't see that. When release 9 comes out, there will be some surprises for everyone. Friend of mine is doing beta testing on IP Office release 9 due for release next year. Thanks again for everyone's help with this Partner issue. I see that Avaya's documentation isn't any better than Nortels.
