hi¡¡¡¡ I have a problem whit mi equipmnet i need to know what i need to do to enable the tagg system on the mitel 3300 because, I conect the mitel ip thelepone on a switch extreme, but the ports of this switch are tagged saw it seems tha the switch dosen´t give them the Vlan of voice.
the telephone dosen´t reach the controller to give them the information of option 125 from DHCP.

the Vlan programed on the switch extreme from voice is VLAN 100.

Thanks and I hope the response.

You either need a DHCP server on the ports to tell the phones via option 125 that they need to talk on VLAN 100 or you can statically assign the phones 1 at a time for VLAN 100.

Download the DHCP helper for option 125 setup strings.

thaks for the help i already done that the thelepones 5312 and 5324 and 5330 the can log with the controller becuse i configure for each phone in the networks parameters the vlan ID = 100 saw they are in service.

the problem that i have are the telephones 5302, because there isn´t a part that i can configure there vlan ID like the other models.

How Can i Program the Vlan ID in a 5302 Ip PHONE.??
to reach the controlller and the controller can they give tem the option 125.????

You need DHCP to be running on the default VLAN to deliver option 125. The phone will accept, recognise VLAN change, release, and renew DHCP request with tagged packets.

Alternatively, if you do not have a PC connected behind the 5302, you can dedicate the switch port to the appropriate VLAN.

There is an option if you don't want to reconfigure your data VLAN DHCP server. You mention you are running Extreme switches. If you are running a recent version of ExtremeOS, assuming your voice vlan 100 is named "VoiceVLAN" and the ports the phones are on are configured to be tagged members of vlan 100, you should be able to issue a command something like this:

configure lldp ports all advertise vendor-specific med policy application voice vlan VoiceVLAN dscp 7

When a Mitel phone boots, it queries the switch to see if the switch supports a neighbor discovery protocol like LLDP-MED or CDP. Most newer (if not all) ExtremeOS switches support LLDP-MED. These protocols can automatically tell the phone to hop to the correct vlan, where the Mitel controller can take over from there.

carlos13 - I took you at your word that the 5302 does not have a means to statically assign the VLAN.

Now that I take the time to reflect, are you sure in your statement? Is the 5302 running in SIP or Mitai Mode? In SIP you are most likely correct, if Mitai, then you should be able to set the VLAN the same way as a 5312.

kwbMitel you must be thinking of the 5304 (Minet/SIP)
the 5302 is SIP only.

and unfortunately, it does not support LLDP-MED, so DHCP is the only option for it.

the simplest is, as mentioned, to put it on a switch port that is untagged voice vlan. the option 125 helper is un-intuitive and will require a very patient and obliging IT Person

I didn't even realize Mitel made a SIP-only phone. Shows you what I know.

RossBC, you are correct. Confused with 5304.
