Hi

We have a site where a number of analogue phones are set to hotlines with the shortcode as below:

?D
500
DialExtn

500 Is the extension of the huntgroup to be rung. When users pick up the hotline phones the desired extensions ring but there is no tone on the phone that does the ringing unless you press any of the keys on the handset.

The system is a IP406 V2 with a DS 30 module and a POTS 30 module running the latest version of the software 3.1.46.

Anyone have any ideas or seen this before?

Thanks

What happens if you set a digital phone the same way?
Do you get no tones at all, dial tone or ring tone?

If we connect a digital phone and set it as a hotline it works as expected.

To explain the problem again the analogue phones are set as hotline phones. When you pick the handset up and listen there is no noise from the phone at all, if you press any one of the buttons on the front of the phone you then hear a ringing sound in the reciever. The phones in the huntgroup that the hotlines dial ring as soon as the hotline handset is picked up. It is very annoying!

Hope this clears it up.

Thanks

If the analogue phone does NOT have the hotline shortcode enabled, does it work as normal?

Yep. If the phone if the ?D shortcode is removed the pjone works as normal.

When you say "if you press any one of the buttons on the front of the phone you then hear a ringing sound in the reciever", do you mean one of the dialpad buttons (1-9 + 0, *, #)? or some other button?
Mike

Yes they're standard analogue hand sets which have the usual dial pad buttons (1-9 + 0, *, #). Pressing any one of these causes the ringing to be heard in the ear piece.

Thanks

For the future reference of any one having a similar issue this is what I have learned. After recieving little help from our equipment supplier and/or Avaya I have done some experimenting and recreated the problem in our offices with a test kit. The 'non-ringing' issue on analogue hot phones only occurs with version 3.1(48). Downgrading to any of the versions listed below enables the hotphones to work as desired.

3.0(40)
3.1(29)
3.1(2901)

Hope this is of help.
