I need the analog ports on this system to grab the PRI without dialing 9.
I have tried hotline to external, feature 78, use routing table. I get dead air
I tried with 9, without 9, with pause, no pause, ect. always dead air???

I have a customer w/ 5.1 XC and it works.

Another place w/ 5.1 DR and it doesn't work?

Could it be something w/ the way the route is set-up?

Can the user still dial out? Secondary dial tone isn't necessary to process a call on a PRI.

7.1 has secodary dial tone & the lower versions don't, no prob w/ secondary dial tone.

secondary dial tone is not the issue.

Customer doesn't want to dial 9 on faxes.
How do I hotline an analog port w/ PRI??

When I say dead air in the post, it means no dial out, no intercom, just plain nothin!

From what I have read and been told, you have to dial a 9 (or what ever you use for the dest code), to make an outgoing call. Hotline prob works on the 5.0XC because there is regular dial tone in the system. Hotline will not work with a PRI.

Try setting the DN to use Intercom for the prime.
Set the Hotline to external use prime.
Set the dial string to F78 and 9.

It could also be the type of ATA.
The Enhanced ATA's perform this function.

pts - the XC site has PRI and I can get them to access the PRI without diaking "9".
I use the same setings on the 7.1 DN and no luck.

The only dif between the 2 sites is the software versions.

SupportDude - I have tried the exact way you described and get nothin, wont call in or out or anything. Both systems use ASM mods, no ATA

I have set this up by telling the system to dial *67 to block caller ID (It may be a different cod with different careers) and it seems to work well

Ductape - Using a PRI, how can they physically make an outgoing call, not using the Dest Code?

To confirm, you do need a route programmed. You can program any code, then hotline, using intercom, and that code. Should work.

Hugh, yes *67 blocks caller ID here. Where in the Norstar prgrmg do you input this?

Pts, I have a dest. code of 9 and a route built.
At the analog DN I prgrm the Hotline to external use prime
and the dial string to F78 and with or without 9 it don't matter, on the 7.1 no calls, on the XC works great.

Rik, I think I tried that but I will try again. Should I build another route with a dest code of maybe 8 or does it not matter, 8, 9, 7 ect.

*67 does not work on PRI, only loop lines.

As for Hotdial should be external, 9....I dont think you will get 2nd dial tnoe but just dial anyway and see if works.
Or Set Prime Line to Intercom and dial 9 and #

sorry for the delay on posting the solution.
Made a new route w/ destination code 88. set hotline to external and 88 works great. I'm not sure why it would'nt work with just "9", but works great with another route built and destination "88". I have since used this @ multiple sites w/ variouse versions of software, works evrytime!!!

forgot to mention, THIS IS PRI only. Not an issue with T-1 or copper trunks. Hope this helps someone else in a bind!!!!!

Very, very, very strange.

I'd ask Nortel what they were thinking, but...

Thanks for the solution.
