Hello to all. Please excuse this question if it is simple as I am just now learning these systems.

We have a Hi-Com 300 PBX integrated with PhoneMail 6.1. We are using Siemens Optiset plus phones.

Last week for some reason, our status lights that indicate when we have a phonemail message stopped working. There were no changes made to the system that I am aware of unless it could be turned off by an individual phone.

The phonemail message option is on,and the COS in the HI-Com has the MSGWCAP option checked.

Any suggestions.

Thank you.

Did you try power cycling the PBX and the voicemail. It would be worth a shot!

Best of luck.

How many phones do you have? Is this affecting all of them or just some of them? (Trying to isolate it to a single optiset card).

As suggested above, I would down phonemail, reset it, and re-up it to see if that is an issue.

Do you know how your phonemail system is connected to the switch? Through an SLMS card or some other way?

Has it been really busy? One of the lowest priorities of phonemail is sending out the Message Waiting notifiers. Check your system status and make sure all your channels are up and working (I believe the command is 'systems', but its on the menu).

It IS possible to go on a phone by phone basis and tell phonemail not to notify of new messages, but someone would have to go in and do them all and it takes time.

If you post back the things you've checked and looked at, etc we can come up with more ideas.

On the channels in the Hicom DIS-SDSU:ALL,,PEN,PER3,1,XX,YY; This will give you the status of the channels. preform DEA-DSSU:DI,PEN,1,xx,yy,zz Access Phonemail, DEACT then ACT, once completed--->on all the channes, then ACT-DSSU:AUL,PEN,1,xx,yy,zz.

It would be a very good idea while Phonemail is down, prefrom FIXUPDATABASE and FIXVOICE.....HIGHLY RECOMENDED!!!!

Once completed in Phonemail prefrom UPDATEMWI..

All your problem will be corrected.....

There was a patch for Phonemail written for the MWI trouble. I used to see it frequently with the Siemens 9006s, but rarely when connected to a Rolm 9005. If the system is on a service contract with Siemens you should be able to get the patch with no charge. I think you'd need to down Phonemail to apply it. I can recall installing the patch after hours.
