I have inherited a system (MICS 5.0) that has to have a BRI-U2 card set up. I have the ISDN circuit numbers and SPID numbers for the circuits. The loops are to be used as voice only. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

just go thru the prog template for the trunk type and look,,,,its fairly easy

ski season has started

I have found that it is sometimes necessary to force the ISDN cards into a 'firmware download'. Often the KSU will not recognize the card is installed. Module Status will show 'Unequipped' even though cards have been physically installed. The card itself will be flashing on all Loop indicator lights.
It is very helpful if you make your programming set an alarm set for the system as it provides an indicator when this procedure begins/ends.
In Maint. - Module status - disable specific module or card that is to accept BRI. Go back to Hardware and change the card type to BRI-U2. At this time you can program all the necessary Loop information, SPID's, Dn's. Go back to Module Status and re-enable card. Release from programming session. The alarm set in very short order will indicate on it's display that the firmware download has begun. This takes 5 minutes during which time all lights on the card will go out except the bottom loop which will slowly flash. The alarm set will also indicate that the procedure is finished. Re-enter programming, in Maint. - Provisioning, provision first the Loop, then [Show] to go into the loop and provision each line.
On new installs it has become my practice to get this procedure out of the way immediately after startup before carrying on with the rest of configuration programming.
