I just bought a new elitegroup K7S5A and antec box.

When I installed the board as it stated in the box, the switches dont work. So I turned them around until it actually would turn on and run. Well now the power supply wires get really hot.

When I had it the way the book told me, it wouldn't turnm on at all.

just which wires are you talking about? Take out everything that is not required to boot the system. (the sound card the IDE drives, both hard drive and CDrom, leave just the floppy, video and memory. Read the manual again and make sure the jumpers and wires go to where they are supposed to. If it doesn't look right don't hook it up until you find out how it should be. Let us know how you make out.

when i unplug the cmos rest jumper it will run, but the wires still get real hot.and it runs with a heart beat.

everything matches themanual.

The cmos reset jumper should not be on at any time except when you are resetting the cmos read the manual on this, you can fry your MOBO if you run with this in the wrong position! Which wires get hot? Does the heatsink fan run? More info please.

yes it runs. the manual told me to leave it on pins 2 and 3.

the power supply wires get hot.

300watt power supply at 115v

Sounds like you need to replace some parts. I'd start with the power supply. (just a thought, before you replace anything take the MOBO out of the case and place it on a non-conductive surface and try it there.)

gona try that now. do you have any IM accesability?

i took my box back. it gives me the same problem. i must be hooking something up wrong. but i dont know what.

its all according to the manual. or i just cant read.
