I have a Mitel 3300 Controller. We just purchased a small office in another building. I want to setup a teleworker solution for the new office instead of installing a new controller. How do I setup Teleworker and where can I find documentation. I will be using a VPN tunnel.

Thanks

Since you are using a VPN tunnel, hold the 7 key down with booting the phone and put the address of the phone system in, hit the down key, save and reboot

Do you have a MiVoice/Mitel Border Gateway (Teleworker server) at the main location to connect the remote phones to?
And all the Teleworker device licenses needed to allow each phone at the small office?
How many phones are at the small office? What sort of Internet connection and bandwidth?

It's not advisable, but you could technically register the phones in MiNet mode over the VPN without going into Teleworker mode..

I have a Nupoint Messaging system. I checked and it has a Mitel Border Gateway. Under which, I see total Teleworker licenses is 0. I will have a total of five phones at this new location.

NuPoint stand-alone or Mitel Application Suite with a NuPoint blade? On the left side of the GUI, select Status under ServiceLink and post your services (and if they've expired). Also include the software versions that will be listed below the Sync button/blue bar.

Without TW licenses you won't be able to connect the phones via the Internet. If you're under the gun to get dial tone at the new location, statically configure the LAN IP of the 3300 into the phones (hold volume key while booting, configure network, ICP IP address). This will at least get the phones talking to the 3300.

Assuming you actually have a MAS w/ NuPoint and MBG (licensed), what mode is the server in? (server-only/server-gateway/dmz) Do you have a company firewall? Can you access it to configure port forwarding and QoS? What kind of Internet connection and bandwidth is at the main location?

Audio and Web Conferencing Subscribed No expiry None
Mitel Border Gateway (MBG) Subscribed No expiry None
Mitel Applications Suite Subscribed No expiry None
Server activation and synchronization Subscribed No expiry None
NuPoint Messenger Subscribed No expiry None
Teleworker Solution Subscribed No expiry None
Unified Communicator Subscribed No expiry None
Mobile Extension Subscribed No expiry None

software version
Mitel Applications Suite 4.0.112.0

We have a Baracuda Firewall. Yes I can have the security guy configure port forwarding on QoS. The internet connection to this building will on be 4 T1s together.

For your reference, MAS was re-branded MiCollab @ release 6. You may want to check with your vendor to see if you still have Software Assurance with Mitel, which would allow you to upgrade to the latest version. But you'd also want to upgrade the 3300, that's another topic/post all together.

Someone here may be able to post the Eng. Guide and I+M for MAS 4 so that you can read up on the supported configurations.

If you go with the static IP configuration at the remote location, you'll also have to configure the ICP IP address as the TFTP server address. Unless you want to use another DHCP scope from the 3300 and have a DHCP helper configured on the remote firewall/router?

I would try them via the vpn tunnel before buying licenses for the MAS. You will also need to add this new network as a local to the MAS for the apps to work

As jpruder says, I would hold down the 7 key while booting the phone to enter teleworker mode.
Enter you Mitel IP address in there.

This will allow the Phone to use normal DHCP to get IP address gateway etc... without having to statically assign anything.
If you have routing to the system then it should just connect.

I've attached the instructions in the PDF file.
Everything that you may be interested in is highlighted in yellow.
After you read that if you have a questions please let me know.
TW is probably the easiest setup ever.
