Avaya get the drift get a grip all the Nortel Man will take over i know you are there but are you listening.

p.s.

An Avaya Fan atleat for now.

been talking to Avaya today. It has been on the site since last night...however, the UK are waiting for the States to update the website with the link! That's all we are waiting for. There are new releases of PM and SoftConsole. The very helpful (for once) Tier3 guy has assured me that Hunt Group problems have been fixed.

Next week i have to do big callcenter and i want to use the new version, is the new software whitout bugs.

Its not yet on the avaya com website is it already on a other side.

greets peter

No piece of software can ever be garaunteed bug free
lets hope any of the remaining ones are so obscure as to not show up in the real world.

I KNOW Avaya are now monitoring these forums so a quick tip.

DO NOT let 3.0 go on G.A. whith known bugs, it will be much better for you to ship this one late but clean.

PS Looking forward to getting the Trial versions to help make sure it IS clean.

As Kristiang reported on the 19th, this issue has been seen by Avaya and a new build 2.1(24) is coming out to replace .23 which should be up by Tues/Wed. Is it ever going to come out officially!!

IPGuru, I agree better to ship late and clean - I've got a customer blaming the phone system everytime someone burps in a nearby cubicle thanks to the fiasco they went through with the 2.1.15 bugs before I downgraded them.

Another strong suggestion for our friends at Avaya - as soon as a significant bug is found, email your BP's and give us a friendly heads up!! Don't wait for us to run into major problems before you'll tell us.

Peter

PS I wanted to sign up for R3 trials, but the 2.1 fiasco scared me so much I'm not willing to install beta software at any of my customers! I would be happy to try it here at my office but that didn't seem to be what they were looking for :)

We have been asking for friendly "heads UP" warnings for years, unfortunatly Avaya seem scared that it will give the oposition amunition so say the product is full of bugs instead of alowing us to manage customere expectations & desing around the problems untill they are fixed.

Unfortunatly because we dont know about the bugs untill they hit (resulting in many hits instead of 1 or 2) it is giving the opposition amunition to say that the system is full of bugs!

3.0 trials are realy intended for REAL sites but that will not stop me from downloading & testing is a safe enviroment (My Home switch) you should be able to do the same.

I hope you can give it a real hammering so that 3.0 files

I can see them not wanting to issue a press release, or post it on their website - but surely an email to all registered BP's would be reasonable...???

Surely less accessible to the competition than forums like these where we *do* give each other heads up when we find bugs.

Peter

You are preaching to the converted Peter

I have it on reliable Autority that Avaya are concerned about the results technical forums like this (and others) are having) and have now started to activly monitor them

So far I would say that all the posts I have read here have been +ve regarding the platform but would like faster responces for reported problems.

I think we all like the IPO but how many people have be told "we dont hav an issue with xyz" right up untill a bug fix for xyz is released?

If we know the problems we can help manage customers expectations & give the developers som breathing space to resolve the issues

Exactly - or not install a call center with R2.1 software, not even mention 2.1 software, until the huntgroup bugs are fixed. Just put in 2.0.18 and the customer will be *very* unlikely to ask if it is the latest release of firmware. Then when the 2.1 maintenance patch comes out (if it ever does) suprise the customer with a free firmware upgrade :)

Peter

Did you find big bugs in 2.1 (23)

Greets Peter

Not Yet, give us time Avaya cant even find the links to download V2.1(23)!

(its is on Avaya site just no link yet!)

IPGuru, Morrack,

I couldn't have said it better.

Instead of monitoring these forums Avaya should actively participate in them and stop denying that there aren't bugs in the IPO.

.24 will be GA tomorrow. I've got it now and it seems much better. Whew.

Kris G.

Thank god it's out! well User and VMPro so far anyway.....

They keep labeling the files as "patches" - makes it sound like you need to install the original first - I assume not though! I don't know why they are suddenly naming them patches.

Has anyone performed the VM Pro Upgrade yet? I went to setup and it said it would perform an upgrade to .10 which went fine. Loaded up the GUI and the help/about still says it is .6. Did Avaya forget to update the About screen or has it not upgraded?

When they released 2.0.18 they simply changed the file you would download when selecting the R2.0 Admin CD - the changes were buried like that for weeks before they changed the link to specify 2.0(18). I wonder if it's the same deal here?

Peter

I checked the file sizes - the admin cd currently there is exactly the same size - so I don't think it has changed yet.

The admin CD is still 2.1(15)
Acording to my sources at Avaya 2.1(24) will not be officialy released untill Friday?

It seems some anouncements were preamature.

Sorry Avaya has premature what did you say?

Argh. I've been hitting refresh on my browser every 20 minutes all day waiting for this.
