Greetings all,
I am upgrading IPO 500 to an IPO 500V2. I have the new SD card I requested from Avaya.
I saved the configuration on the 500.
I opened it in Manager
I then sent that configuration to the 500 V2.
I inserted the new SD card.
Rebooted the IPO 500 V2.
However, it did not come back up. All red lights
( FYI- the 500V2 hardware was working at another location so it had an SD card in it)
(the only way I could get the system back up was to put the old SD card back in it.)

The 500V2 originally only has 10 users.
The 500 has 100 users.

Do I need to do something to the system configuration from the 500 before it will work with the new SD card on the 500V2?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Wrong sequence.
1. save the configuration on the 500.
2. open it in Manager
3. recreate the SD card with the same version
4. insert the new SD card
4. bootup IP Office
5. then sent that configuration to the 500 V2
6. Manager will ask "Config is IP 500V1, upgrade to IP 500V2?" Confirm with Yes
7. reboot IP Office
8. done
If necessery upgrade IP Office to the desired level according the upgrade documentation.
Advise : default the security after upgrade and reconfig.

I saved the old V1 config and opened it in Manager.
However, when I click on "recreate IP Office SD card"
All options are grayed out

Does this process have to be done on the old V1 box?

If so, I assume I need remove the existing SD card on the V1 and insert the new SD Card?

Sorry, but I am a bit confused
Thanks

Does this SD card recreate need to be done on a PC with an SD card reader?
Or the IP Office itself?
Thanks

You put the SD card into a PC or laptop then open Manager, and when you select format or recreate point it to the SD card in the laptop/PC

But there is no need to open the config to recreate the card.

Thanks for everyone's help-
The process keeps upgrading the Version from 8.1 to 9.0
I do not want to do that. I want to keep it on 8.1 and simply move the configuration from the V1 to the V2 box.
Is the SD card I'm using causing this?
Thanks

If 9.0 is on the SD card, that's what the system will use. Recreate SD using whatever version you want to have IPO use - 8.1 in your case.

I assumed you would know that so I did not mention.
Going from a v1 chassis to a v2 chassis first step is always use the same version for the v2 chassis as the v1 chassis.
Once the migration of the config has been made then upgrade to whatever version you want (or not).

I must be missing something- When I choose to recreate the SD card- I do not see an option to keep the same version?
Do I reformat the SD card and then recreate it?

you need to have the 8.1 manager on your laptop or your working directory pointed to the 8.1 bin files

You need a Manager with the same release as the v1 system or at least all the binaries of that version.
In this case you need a Manager where the "About"info box shows version 10.1.xx which equals IP Office R8.1.xx.
If you have that you only have te recreate the SD card from within that Manager were the file paths are set to the correct folders.
Correct folders is "c:\\Program files(x86)\Avaya\IP Office\Manager" if the 8.1 version is the default manager on the PC.
If yo have multiple versions installed like I have then the path is "c:\\Program files(x86)\Avaya\IP Office\8.1\Manager

I have a copy of Manager 8.1.65
The system is running 8.1.67 with VoiceMail Pro.

If I do this with 8.1.65 I assume it will change the version to 8.1.65.
If so, will the voicemail Pro still work?
VM Pro is 8.1.9016

I am kind of scratching my head as to why upgrade to a V2 if your are going to stay on a firmware release that is fully supported on the V1, why not wait until you are ready to deploy 9.1?

The customer wants to use the newer hardware-
I was figuring- once I got the newer hardware working- then I could upgrade to 9.1 when ready.
I was trying to avoid having to change the hardware, and upgrade to the newer software all at once.
however, maybe it is easier to just get the new V2 hardware working on 9.1- install the V2 box with 9.1
And then upgrade VM pro to match 9.1?
I was trying to avoid any downtime-

Voicemail pro will work as long as you keep the version on 8.1.something.

And upgrading the system from a v1 to a v2 on the same software level is what we do also as the v1 chassis is not availabe anymore form Avaya and a v2 is.
So if a customer has a platinum service contract we make sure this customer has hardware we have on stock so we can get them back on-line within four working hours guaranteed.
These customers also have a IPOSS contract so they CAN be upgraded to a higher release but some customers are happy with that paricular release as it does what it suppose to to and a upgrade usually introduce some new hidden features aka bugs they don't want to have. It is their system and it is their dicision.

And we don't do second hand parts, we are proffessionals, a second hand system coming from a customer goes in the shredder. So we don't have a v1 chassis on stock.
Or a "old" VCM32/64 card etc.
