I'm fairly new to Avaya and trying to answer a question to quote a system for a customer. This sale is contingent on the ability to intercom between their existing Panasonic TDE600 (which I installed with my previous company) and an IPO500 I am quoting.

I know I can use SIP trunks to accomplish this, but it will change the way the Panasonic functions, as I have to implement ARS, and this is not an option to the customer.

Has anyone successfully made intercom calls between Panasonic TDE platform and Avaya IPO using h.323? The programming on each system is simple, it is the application functionality I am worried about [smile] Panasonic is known to use slightly non-standard implementations of standardized protocol suites... It seems, just to be difficult

Thank you for the help!

We use the Panasonic TDE as a (cheaper) DECT system behind a IP Office with H.323 so it can be done.
I don't have the time right now to go into deatails

Intringant - Thanks for the reply. It's good to know this can be done going in. If you have a second to elaborate, I would greatly appreciate hearing if there are any tricks, quirks, or limitations. Way to think outside the box using the TDE behind an IPO for DECT functionality... That's a pretty good idea. I have been a Panasonic tech forever, so if you need any help with anything on that system, let me know.

I am going to go on the basis that this will function (over VPN) between sites. A certain pre-sales tech support gave me a "Yeah... we think it should be fine" answer, so I'm glad to hear it from someone with actual knowledge instead of speculation.

In IP Office we have a plain H.323 trunk with G729 codec, fast start enabled,Out of Band enabled and Fast Start enabled. All other settings are tured off, no H450 support.
Line group ID is 5 and in ARS we point all numbers in the range 5XXX to the PanaDECT system.
In older IP Office's (Pre 9) we have "virtual" users like user 122 which is forwarded N/A to number 5122 which is a cordless phone in the PanaDECT.
In version 9 we use mobile twinning over the H.323 trunk.
I don't know exctly how it is set up in Panasonic, I'll see if I can find a backup.. I don't do the Panasonic part, that is done by a few collegue's here.

Thanks again for the information. I should be able to do the Panasonic side without too many issues, but we'll see. The programming is minimal on that end.
