GSM Gateway to Mitel 3300?

Hi, I've used a wavelink before using a TDM connection....

Thanks

Kenny

The Quescom has a PRI&BRI connection however I am being pushed for a SIP connection.

Anyone else?

I think MultiTech makes one. GSM to SIP.

When I looked at it, it support RFC 2833 (required by Mitel). They use to be a good company to deal (probably still are), but I would question if they can send you a demo unit to test??

Thanks I will look into it.

I think a offsite GSM gateway managed by a service provider might be better.

I recently contacted Kerine McMillan from QuesCom, they seem to be a good company with good marketing strategies and excellent tech. support. However, those boxes are not cheap, they can provide the QuesCom2000 as a Demo for 1200 Euros, note that the 200 is a GSM-SIP Gateway. Also, they say the 300 and the 400 have been tested with Mitel PBXs... which I haven't found any documentation on MOL Knoledge Base yet.

I'd like to test one before I can offer it to my customers, every body say their equipment are SIP Standard but there's always something that don't work with SIP.

Imagine... Mitel hasn't been able to interoperate the Mitel 1000 and the 3300, what to expect from other vendors... It's a test that I should do before I convince myself that the QuesCom and the 3300 will work.

QuesCom also have the 300 and the 400 which are BRI and PRI capable, but then you may have an issue with the clock source. I tested the BRI enterprise from 2N and it works "fine" depending on the mood it wakes up that morning. Clocking Issues... I had to reset the Quad BRI Several Times... Also, didn't like the documentation from 2N, I think they translated the Chzec manual to english using an online application, nothing makes sense and you have to play around with the box until something happend.

I will probably buy the 200 and make a test... I'll let you know. You can download the manual they sent me yesterday from

Daniel

Thank you Daniel for you input. I have a Quescom 400 sitting in the office gathering dust!

mitelmitel,

Do you know if Mitel has produced one of those Technical Bulletins for connecting the QuesCom to the 3300 via SIP?? I looked for it on MOL but didn't find anything.

Regards,

Daniel

I doubt Mitel will write a TB for it - something is coming in September from Mitel for GSM.

I could not find anything hence my post on here.

I would need to buy some SIP trunk licenses to test, that's if I don't go for a dedicated gateway managed by a service provider, which will also route carrier based calls (non ported) to ensure lowest costs possible.

TheMitelGuy, That'll be a nice product for sure!!. In the mean time I will probably get one of the Gateways from QuesCom and see how it performs.

Now that you have that information, I'd like to ask another question: Have you heard that Mitel is planning to make the Mitel 1000 MiNet capable so it will be IP Trunk-connected to the 3300?? If that is positive, any ideas when it's planned to be released?

Regards,

Daniel

We don't see much of the Inter-Tel products in Canada - Inter-Tel was never really in Canada (they tried, but were never successful, Canadians like Mitel, Nortel, Avaya, Cisco and a bit of ShoreTel).

My guess.... Mitel 1000 and 3000 will be MD'd. It's not Mitel space. Mitel has always played in the 50-500 market. I don't think this is one thing Mitel is going to keep - its one place you can't treat an old dog new tricks.

mitelmitel,

I received one of the Quescom200 (SIP-GSM) last week for testing with the 3300, to be honest I've been having a hard time making it to work.

Right now I am able to send and receive calls both ways but no audio at all, not even ringback tone. Any Idea? Did you make your 400 to work over SIP to the 3300?

If I post programming on the 3300 and the quescom, can you have a look and see if you can identify an obvious mistake.

It shouldn't be difficult, I have the 3300 and the quescom in the same subnet, no sip proxy. Just the 3300 and the quescom.

Reagrds,

Daniel

Im sorry Daniel but I am in the early stages of trialling an off site GSM Gateway solution managed by a service provider.

I thought it might be difficult to get working [Quescom]

Not a problem MitelMitel, I made it to work yesterday. To be honest I am not completely satisfied with the Quescom box, it has some background noise that I'm pretty sure customers won't like. I'll give a call to their tech support in France to see what they say. I'll let you know... Regards and good luck with your trial.
