The system is a Norstar Plus Mudular ICS NT7B53. The software is revision is rev 1. I know little about the system, and in altering whose phone on the system rings, I accidentally messed up, something... All lines are setup to use greeting table 01 and greeting 01. Which was a "Thank you for calling Store X! Our hours are X ..." type message. Somehow in I made it so that generally delivery picks up, asks you to say the persons name that you are looking for, then hangs up without recording anything. All the settings are correct for the Lines to answer. What is odd is that it seems to totally bypass those line settings. For example, all lines are set to pick up on 6 rings, but the general delivery message picks up after 4. Turning off the general delivery VM box does nothing. How do I get the lines to pickup instead of what ever is actually picking it up?

The problem is probably a phone that has the line appearance assigned - ring or no ring. If any phone which has a line appearance also call forward no answer to voice mail those assigned lines will follow. Either remove the forwarding or the line appearance.

Would this explain why the lines pickup in 4 rings instead of 6? It seems like if there were no answer after 6 then the forward on busy & no answer would apply. Is this not the case? I looking into the settings right now...

I corrected the problem by copying the phones I had changed with sets I know work properly. That worked great! However I have another question. How do you make a set ring when a call comes in? we have the system set right now so only the main desk rings. I need more sets to ring until a secretary is brought in. Any ideas?

You could assign those lines you want to ring - but then you may have the same problem you had before with voice mail. Another way may be to assign answer dns to the phones you want to ring. You would assign the main phones dn to the other phones. when the main phone rings so would the answer dns.

A better way may be to use Ringing service - when the main phone is in Ringing service mode - the calls ring to all the sets you tell it to. must also be careful with forward no answer.

The problem I am still running into is not understanding what I am doing. what is the answer dns? what section is it activated under?
