Hi everybody!

I´ve here a GeForce 2 MX 400 64Mb AGP video card, plugged on my ASUS CUV4X-C motherboard (AGP 4X compatible). I used to run Windows 98 SE, lastest NVIDIA drivers + AGP at 4X run mode. GTA3 could run at 800X600X32 resolution (OK... with rare freezes). Now the scenario is the same, I just change my O.S. to XP. GTA3 runs to sloooow... at 640X480X16. Is my XP ignoring my GeForce power? Or my GeForce it´s too old for this game?

Thank you very much!

I really don't mean to be rude but not enough information!
I suspect that your machine is struggling now you have upgraded to XP, this OS uses far more memory and system resorces and unless you have a fast machine with plenty of memory I am not surprised you have a performance hit.
XP isn't for everyone, personally I wouldn't recommend it unless you have 800mhz+ machine with more than 196mb ram.
I know it can be run with much less but with a resultant performance hit. Martin
Replying helps further our knowledge, without comment leaves us wondering.

Sorry! ;-)
I REALLY know that I do not give enough information!

My machine: Pentium III 866Mhz, 384Mb RAM, 20Gb Hard Disk. Motherboard: ASUS CUV4X-C, video card: GeForce 2 MX 400.
The general performance is OK! But my video card performance is so poor compared with Windows 98...

Thank you!

Have you grabbed the latest detonator drivers from NVidia?
They significantly improve performance of a GF2. Try DX9 as well. It works great on my Celly 800 with the same card. Cheers,
Jim
