We have the following system
Avaya 8500 Media Server
Avaya G700 Media Gateway
Avaya G350 Media Gateway
Avaya G350 Media Gateway

Everything was working just RIGHT.

The G700 Gateway was moved from one location to another new one.

We have some trouble in trying to make this unit to work.
So starting the tests, we have plugged the laptop into the ethernet ports.
The network address of the G700 have not been changed.
And we get no connectivity from the laptop to the G700.

What could be preventing the machine from getting a connection?

The network policies?
- We are using a cross-over cable, so theres no firewall.

Some service not started?
Shouldn’t it start by default…?
Any interface not activated?

What can be missing?

i'd say get out your console cable and plug one end into the console port of the G700 and the other end into your laptop, log in and have a look.

on your laptop, you have to set the ip address of the laptop to 192.13.11.5

I'd also do an "arp -d 192.13.11.6" before trying to connect to the server.

Thanks for all your support
i learn more ways to diagnose

Finally the issue was caused by the network configurations
they have entangled the Vlans, so no IP, no connectivity, no voice

and that starts a debate, usually the VOIP geeks are a different company from the Network geeks and it can be a significative gap.

I dont know if become expert in multi level or convergence switches, given that i work with Avaya and usually we cannot touch it, not even advice the network geeks how to do it.
