PN 05 EXP-PN 769 0 06/01/06:59 06/01/06:59 1 0 1 r n

The maintenance manual tell me to test the boards which I did. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

type "status swicth". look for the active SNC (going to be 1d10 or 1d12). Then "test board 1d10 long clear"

-CL

did you restarted the switch node carrier by any chance?

2 things here:

1- if you did restarted the SNC, this is normal and it'll take some time to clear itself

2- otherwise, switch node interface 1D03, 1D04 & 1D20 is malfunctioning. Try a "test board" or "reset board" on them.

Thanks for the quick reply. Will this test take anything out of service?

The switch was restarted this morning around 6am. It is now 1pm and the alarm is still there. I would have thought that it would have cleared by now.

No, it wont harm service. just resynchs the clock in the sni carrier. thats why all sni links have alarms

-CL

Eveything passed but the alarm is still there

test board 1d10 long clear SPE A

TEST RESULTS

Port Maintenance Name Alt. Name Test No. Result Error Code

01D10 SNC-BD 778 PASS
01D10 SNC-BD 779 PASS
01D10 SNC-BD 759 PASS
01D10 SNC-BD 777 PASS
01D10 SNC-BD 760 PASS

01D10 SNC-BD RESOLVED

Thanks guys for all your help!

these are the boards in questions not 1D10

01D04 SNI-PEER n MINOR y 06/01/06:58 00/00/00:00
01D20 SNI-PEER n MINOR y 06/01/06:58 00/00/00:00
01D03 SNI-PEER n MINOR y 06/01/06:58 00/00/00:00

test to clear them again, do a 'test alarm long clear' first maybe it'll speed up the process

test alarms long clear SPE A

01D03 SNI-PEER n MINOR y 06/01/06:58 3/3

01D03 SNI-BD 777 FAIL
Testing completed for this object.

This is what I got for all 3 boards (1d04, 1d20 and 1d03)

757 and 756 aborted and 777 failed. Will the reset board command harm service?

clear firm 1d10 command will not let me because it is on the active pnc

don't worry about harming service for now tbenton12, port network 1's connectivity to port network 2, 3, 4 & 5 is entirely ceased. You need to fix this quick.

Try to:

1- reset board 1d03 and do it 1 at a time to see if it fixes itself
2- list fibre and look at the counterpart where the other end of the fibre goes to and test that board as well
3- worst case, call your maintainence company. Could be a bad fibre or a bad fibre transceiver

I'm not near a PPN to look but 80% of them in the feild have a 12" tall by 4" magnet on the side on resolving SNI alarms. Does your cabinet have one by chance? Your issues are not with the SNI cards, the alarm is a reflection of a general issue with the SNI carrier which will show alarms on every SNI card. The resolution involves proceedure with the active SNC board which will clear all of the other alarms once completed. I'm sure someone will chime in though.

DO NOT reset any SNI cards. This is a firmware counter issue and you probably have nothing out of service until you start resetting boards!!!!!!!!!

I looked for that 12"x 4" magnet in the ppn and did not see one.

Try the "clear firm a-pnc" this should clear them up for you.

Hell, there are no rules here - we're trying to accomplish something.

a-pnc is the stanby pnc which will require me to busy it
out. It might be a good idea for me to do this afterhours.
I have a call center here and at the present time everything seems to work. I just have this alarm I need to get rid of. Thanks to everyone for their input.

The Alarms have been cleared. Thanks to everyone who lended a hand in solving this problem. This is what I did.

1 I did a reset pnc interchange. The alarms were on pnc-a which was the active pnc. The interchange made the pnc-a the standby pnc and pnc-b the active one.

2 Next I busyout pnc-a and did a clear firmware counters
a-pnc. Then i did a release pnc-standby and the alarms
went away.
