I am trying to connect to our G350 Gateway via dial up modem. I am presented with a "login" and "password" prompt. Should this be the 'root' login and password? If so, I have tried those and they do not work. Also, I have tried to connect to the 8300 and I receive the "Bash" prompt and I'm not sure what the login and passwords are. I have also attempted to connect my laptop directly to the Console port and Services port using the Wizard software and was not able to login that way either. Any help would be appreciated.
 
The 8300 logins are probably the same as your CM logins. I think the G350 gateway logins are 'craft' which are usually reserved for business partners.
 
From the manual:

Adding a user:
username gateway password noidea access-type admin
or
username remote password noclue access-type read-write

Modem settings:
G350-???(super)# interface USB-Modem
G350-???(super-if:USB-Modem)# async reset-modem
G350-???(super-if:USB-Modem)# ip address <ip-address> <subnet>

Defaults:
G350-???(super-if:USB-Modem)# ip-address 10.3.0.3 255.255.255.0
G350-???(super-if:USB-Modem)# ppp authentication pap
G350-???(super-if:USB-Modem)# no shutdown
G350-???(super-if:USB-Modem)# timeout absolute 0
G350-???(super-if:USB-Modem)# exit
G350-???(super)# show interfaces USB-Modem

The status of the modem must be "USB-Modem is ready".

No you can use a ppp connection to login.
username: remote
password: noclue

To disconnect, just type shutdown.

Don't forget to save your configuration when you are done.
 
default login = root
password is the same.
At first login it asks you to change the password.

if someone did change the password then you have an other issue.
