Hello, i have ip trunks connecting my 2 avaya pbxs (g3 & s8300) to the cisco callmgr. From callmgr to the 8300 i have a route setup to dial 91609xxx.9xxx, strip everything predot and and a trailing #. The reason being we dial 9 from callmgr to get dial tone so can't do 4 digit dialing. Works great. So, I would like to add a route to the g3 to dial the full 91609xxx9xxx and have it send it to the callmgr where it will take over the routing. From the g3 we also dial 9 to dial out so i can't do 4 digit dialing as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated. At some point in the future we will probably change to six digit dialing but unfortunately that decision is out of my hands for the time being.
Thx

Just put the extra digits you want to insert into the route plan.

Yes, that would work with 4 digit dialing. But users will dial 9,1-609-xxx-xxxx, which i want to route over the ip trunk to callmanager which will then take over the routing. So, my question is what digit manipulation can i do in the G3 so that users don't have to change their dialing habit and at the same time I can utilize the ip trunks instead of the pris? I'm sure it's something simple that I can't think of at the moment or maybe i'm over complicating it. :)

In the above example, note that there is a column for number of deleted digits. (No. Del Dgts)

Just have the route pattern delete all the digits dialed up to the extension. (probably the last 4 or 5) Then insert any needed digits.

Put two trunk groups in the route pattern. One across the IP trunks, (that will delete/add the necessary digits to build out your extension properly) and one that won't modify the dialed digits at all, and will route to the public network. (In case the IP trunks are out of service.)

Assign the route pattern to calls that dial 1609xxx, and you're all set.

You can do the same thing to AAR calls to route calls dialed as a direct extension. Just send it across the IP trunks to the other switch or build out the full PSTN number and route to a public network trunk group.
