A couple of weeks ago we had a meeting with two IP Office trainers to discuss various IP Office documentation issues.

One thing that I picked out of it as it falls into my area was that they both access the IP Office documents by downloading the whole set of PDFs at GA and then using that set as their own local reference libary.

The current downloadable "IP Office Documentation DVD" currently consists of both HTML and PDF versions of documents and totals just under 1GB. A PDF only 'lite' version would be approximately only 450MB.

I'm using

* when searching for some specific information.
-> I like the old style found for topics like 'Installation: DECT R4' but hate new style like 'Platform Server Edition Reference Configuration'.

* PDF's for documentation and giving information to 3rd party in a project.
-> Wish to have a simpler way of having everything in latest version. Offline to be stored on notebook and iPad.

* Press F1 in Manager
-> but this was far better in earlier versions.

Not using the downloadable DVD as it caused problems a few times (years ago) and I did not see the benefit in it.
Maybe I should give it a try. (The size of the download doesn't matter here. Just compare it with all the software I'm downloading from Avaya every 2-3 month. It's 12-15 GB every time!)

And: Have a star for asking us!

I watch regularly. Thank you all for the stars, only need 1198 more to be a true MVP....

If you get the powers that be at Avaya to listen to even a bit of what we say to help improve the system........... you'll get them for sure :)

Team i believe both options have their value.
PDF can easyly stored in tablets ,phones, laptops and be handy when needed, HTML gives more search flexibility but you are limited to PC. Also HTML can be hosted to an internal/External web server and be accessed by the engineers whenever needed, so this gives it an extra value. So i vote Avaya keep both versions.

I would love to see better content in the documents. To me the docs are just not specific enough and are missing vital info.
Putting screen shots in manuals would be a start!!

Thanks

Screenshots are always nice but I don't think they are needed since every configuration parameter and checkbox is described in the same order you will find it in manager.

Avaya decided to remove short code and button programming to save some space so I don't think they will add screenshots ;-)

Derfloh, I think they put it back in. [bigglasses] It was terrible when they took it out.

That would be the first time that avaya tells us they make a mistake and correct it.
