I have 2 VAL boards in my G3SI v9.5. one on 1a12 and another on 1b01. I can download and upload announcements on 1a12 (vintage hw02 fw007) using val manager.

I can not, however, do the same thing with 1b01 (vintage hw01 fw0003). Its giving an error ftp connection failed. Would anybody have an idea on what might be happening? Is the vintage on the card something that would be affecting this? I have already done a reset on the 01b01 card, busy, reset and release. even pulled out the card out of the slot. I have even done an erase ann 01b01, but are still experiencing the same issue. Please help.

I would dtrongly recommend updating the firmware to FW07. Avaya won't even open a case until that's been done. Have you added the data module for the second board?

Check and make sure you can ping the address from another board. Check to make sure the cables are connected to the board. Doesnt matter what firmware you have, as long as you have ip connectivity you should be able to reach that board.

I just resolved this problem on my switch. Avaya told me that because my C-LAN boards don't support more than 10meg - Half Duplex (TN799 <Not DP version>), my Val Boards would would not do it either. Even though I don't really buy the theory, I set the boards to 10/Half with Auto-negotiate off. It worked for whatever reason...

Assuming all connectivity issues have been addressed, try to ping the val board with the -t option and look for mostly time-outs with a few replies.

If you have the capability on your ethernet switch, you might also want to set 2 ports to 10/Half so they will match the VAL boards.

Good Luck,
Perry

Thanks for all the response. I have locked down my Vals to 100 full and it worked.

I recently replaced a CLAN board in my 8700 and ever since I was unable to connect. The FW is 010 so that was not my problem however I did change try changing the ethernet options from 100 full to 10 half auto=no and low and behold I am in!

Thats interesting, cause both mine are set at 100/Full and I am able to upload.

Are you guys having that problem via FTP(command line) and Voice Annoumcement Manager software?

Hi Guys,

I have troubels with the Val board also.
The switch is 10R, one board is HW 2 FW 8 en the second board is HW 1 FW 8. I have the latest version of VAM 2.1.7 with update 2.1. The problem is when I contact he second board with I get connections timeouts ??? But when I connect using a dos session "ftp" it works over and over again. But with the VAM it works random, one time it works the other time it doenst?
Strange eh? The ports are set to 100Mb full auto=no the same on the cisco side. My CLAN (TN 799C) board is 10 Mb half auto=no. Avaya told me that this couldnt be an issue. I know that there are issue's with the onboard ethernet controller, its not that stable, so my idea was upgrading it with a HW 3 version and Firmware 8. Avaya send me the new boards and I am going to implement it this week. 7 x 24 Call Center so its nightwork again! Any idea's anyone. For my part ill keep you posted
