I am converting a vertical app from FPD26 to FPW26. My challenge is with print routines and I would appreciate some input. 'Normal' 10cpi reports are fine even though the reports print at 12cpi from FPW. I have several reports which require 'condensed' print but can't seem to find a solution for doing so. I have tried changing printer settings to DIRECT and RAW to bypass Windows fonts but to no avail. I have a table with Esc codes and reference the table but get ignored. HP has PCL codes that work with FPD but they do not work with FPW. Is there a Font command to specify smaller font size which I can hard code in respective reports to achieve the equivelant of DOS condensed ESC codes, 17cpi? We can do it to set up screens but haven't found a way to do it for reports. Please help!

You really need to convert the reports using the report writer in FPW. The method of using the print command in DOS does not work well in FPW.

Every time I have converted applications from FPD to FPW I have had to completely re-create reports in the report writer.

If you have any specific questions on how to do this let me know.

Thanks Mike,
I was hoping to avoid that. I have 80 various print routines. Maybe I'll use FPW Report Wrighter ONLY for those routines that require compression or maybe I can print those in Landscape mode.
Thanks again,
Tony

You can use the FONT statement:

@ 1, 1 SAY 'Something' FONT 'Courier', 10
(Courier 10 point)
-or-

? 'Something Else' FONT 'Arial', 8 STYLE 'BI'
(Arial 8 point, Bold, Italic)

??? 'Something'
bypasses the printer driver, so you may be able to use that for some raw print commands. I'm not sure.

This is a reply to Mike Wood. Do the same problems exist using Win 2000? I currently use FPW2.6 fine under Win 98. But when I use Win2000 or XP, I get GPF's on all print jobs. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You
