Hi, many times while working with Foxpro 2.6 we crash and then when we go back in there is no mouse for just in the foxpro area, mouse is fine everywhere else. The only way to fix it is to restart the computer. Does anyone else have this problem, and is there a way of fixing it without having to restart all the time? Thank you.

Glenn

Glenn,
Is this a Fox Dos 2.6 app, or a Fox Win 2.6 app?
Best Regards,
Scott

hi, sorry never thought to mention that. it's a windows app

Glenn

Glenn,
I've seen this happen on various systems and eventually "fixed" it by changing the video drivers or the resolution/color depth. (Although sometimes a mouse driver update also fixed it.) Many manufacturers optimize/provide full support in their video drivers for only one or two specific resolutions/color depths, and go with MS default handling for the other options (these seyups can be "flaky" to be generous).

Glenn,
To further what Rick said, FPW2.6 was never intended to be run at resolutions above 1024x768. So, check that. (I don't think resolutions that high even existed, or were on the "Bleeding Edge" at the time that 2.6 was released. You may notice other problems in your Fox applications, especially in Report PREVIEW modes, where all kinds of artifacts get left all over your preview if running about 1024x768. Also, the more "Up to date" video card you have, the better. I had the greatest flakyness using 4mb video cards. (Especially Trident and Oak Chipsets, where were very common in the day...)

Best Regards,
Scott

I have had this problem before also. We used a strange workaround to fix it. I think it went something like:

Go to Start, Control Panel, Settings,

Then, adjust your Screen Saver (change it in some way)

Then, go back to FoxPro. Sometimes this clears up the mouse issue without having to reboot

When you adjusted your screen saver did you have a screen saver set before your mouse went? None of us use screen savers, just the turn off monitor after 30 minutes option.
