Hi,
We have a foxpro 2.5b program running under windows98 without any problem.

The problem starts when we are using our program under windows 2000.

When we are running the program (either in a dosbox or full screen) the program blocks after a while. The cursor is still blinking but whatever we do (and we do a lot) the program isn't taking any input.

can somebody help me with this problem ?

thnx !
god will bless u !

Nope - and it's even worse under XP. Consider either staying on Win 9x or upgrade the app to VFP.

I know, so we started upgrading to vfp for that program but we can't do it in 5 seconds as it is a program that is organizing more than 150 shops...

So we have a BIG problem ...

I've seen messages where people point to the caching in Win2K and XP. Look into that. Also, is the program set to run in a Seperate Memory Space?

Good luck,
Bill

I had a similar problem (and I have 150 shops).
After a bit of help on this board I discovered that the main problem is the inability to comunicate directly to the com or lpt ports. This means every time you do so it is either spooled (for up to 20 seconds or more) or just gets lost and even hangs the system.
I tried VMware virtul machine but at US$299 per computer it's out of the question.
I have 150 users running from WFWG to Win 98ME.
My general impression is, don't go to XP or 2000 unless you have some program that only runs on it.
Win98SE and ME are very stable if they are used for only a certain number of programs and are not played with.
I like Win for its memory manager (speeds up FPD no end) and I use a third party bar code printing program that must have Windows.

I cannot even get the program to run under Windows 2000 Professional. Each time I attempt to start, I encounter the message: "Divide By Zero or Overflow Error". It's really a bother as I have to use Visual FoxPro 6.0 and do what I have to do, and then export it to the lower end version (i.e., ver. 2.5).

Is this something that I'm going to have to deal with or does any one hay any Ideas how I can get past this initial error message?

Thanks,
MC

MC,
You should really start a new thread for this question - the others were asking about FP DOS, not FP Windows, which is more likely where you are getting the divide by zero error.

This is not a Windows 2000 problem, but a "high speed" CPU problem. There have been a number of threads offering solutions (see the Advanced Search at the top of the page). To get you started try thread182-50100.
