Does anyone know if Fox Pro 2.6 for Windows will work with Windows XP Professional? If so, how do I get rid of the Divide by Zero or Overflow error?

I've tried downloading the DOPATCH and PATCH26 from Microsofts web site and they don't seem to do the trick. Am I missing something here?

Any help would be appreciated.

David

David,
It works fine on my XP Pro machine (dual processor 2.0 gHz Xeon workstation). Are you running 2.6a with the 'official' patch, or 2.6 with the DZPATCH? Do a search on your machine for FOXW2600.ESL and foxprow.exe (depending on whether you are talking about the runtime or development environment), and make sure you are actually using the file(s) you fixed.

I have used the DOPATCH.exe - could not find the DZPATCH???

I did a search and it did not find any files .esl. I am able to find the foxprow.exe file.

Can you please provide detailed instructions as to which file (or patch) I should download and from where and how to actually run the patch???

I copied the DOPATCH.exe to the C:\fpw26 directory and ran it from there but apparently it did not work.

Thanks much,
David

David,
Go to (or - "PATCH: Patch_26.exe Fixes Divide by Zero Error on Fast Computers". This is where the official FPW 2.6a patch links are. If you are running 2.6, then you'll need to upgrade to 2.6a first - there is a link at the bottom of the page to get these patches (
DZPATCH was an unofficial patch that works with FPW 2.5, 2.5a, 2.5b, and 2.6 (and a number of other programs that were producted with the same "faultly" linker that causes the Div 0 problem). Since MS requested that this not be used (a technical violation of your license), I won't give you an address where this can be found, but if you do a Google search ....

thanks everyone for your help with this issue. I was able to find and download the dzpatch.exe and patched the foxprow.exe file. The program is working great now.

Thanks again!
