Forwardin of External Number

Hi All,
Would i be right in saying that to divert an incoming external call to an external destination, i would create a new extension, say, 214, forward it unconditionally to the external number (Forward number, Hunt Group and Internal) and then set the incoming call route for the originally dialled number to newly created extension?

I realise this would take up 2 trunks though.

Also, would a reboot be required here as i would effectively be creating a new extension?

Thanks, is there much difference between the models (specifically with reference to reboot time) or are they all roughly the same?

the old 400 (SOE aka 401, 403, 406, 406V2 and 412)are all around the same time, the new Ip500 takes twice as long and makes your heart rate go up the first few times when the red lights are still on after 1.5 minutes.

Westi, The first time takes longer because it loads the ip500v2.bon file.
After that it is in the flash memory.
When you upgrade it then again it takes twice as long as normal.
But it scares me too once in a while

that is what you get when you type (or typo) on your i-phone, bon and jovi files "with" are on the left.
I have a blackberry and going online with that and trying to read and post is a pain so I gave that up long time ago.
That also means that I am not online lately because workload is nasty, leaves the weekends to catch up with you guys.

their is no need to reboot after creating a dummy user on any release of IPO firmware (you don't need to create the extn as well)

So how can you divert calls to external then?

There is no option to forward on incoming trunks to anything other than hunt groups or extensions.

Unless I missed something.

You did, you just type the external number in the destination box

or jou can still use the dummy user approach (it means users can change the destination by treating it as a hot desk extn.)
my point was that adding a user is a mergable change

OK, thanks, you live and learn.

The help file makes it look like a new extension is an immediate change though.

No biggie, i did it out of hours anyway.
