Hi,

A customer wants unaswered calls to ring at other nearby phones before then hitting the original extn's VM if still not answered.

E.g Extn A goes unanswered, it then rings extns B, C & D in turn for say 5 seconds each and then if still not answered hits extn A's voicemail.

I'm going to use hunt groups to accomplish the forwarding but if not answered will they return to the original extn's VM? My head says no. They have VM Pro if that could be used to accomplish this?

Thanks and merry christmas!

Hmm, from some quick testing, this doesn't seem to work. Can anyone else confirm if it should?

Make a VM start point for the hunt group that is aimed at the original destination's mailbox.

Hi,
It's 4.2 as well. I'll double check as it was only a hasty check. It's a sequential group and from what I saw it just sat on the last person instead of going to VM. Maybe it is working, I'll double check the times etc.

The VM Pro start point had crossed my mind as an option so I'll go with that if I can't fathom it!

Thanks again for the responses

I just watched a call come in via call status. It rings at the main extension for 15 seconds before forwarding on no answer to a sequential hunt group with two members. It then rings them for 10 seconds each as per the no answer time I've set. It flicks between these two handsets seemingly indefinitely. Certainly for more than 1 min 20 seconds anyway as this when the caller hung up!

Any more suggestions before I give up and create all the VM Pro start points and enable VM on the hunt groups?

check the voicemail on for the second group and use mforrence's suggestion to create a start point for the second group and do a leave mail action for the initial group

If you can't be good, be good at it!

no need to alter vmpro, just enable vm. have just double checked this with all ring types (originally only tested on collective).

Thanks TheTaker, I'll test this now. My reasoning for turning VM off on the HG was that I don't want it to go to the HG's own VM. I'll test now but it sounds like that's the problem!

that will be it, you just need the voicemail to be turned on, once it hits vm it returns to the original groups vm

tested and confirmed :)

TomMills - the original called party is a user rather than a group. I know if you overflow to a 2nd hunt group it's the 1st group's VM that kicks in, but didn't think it would be the same for users with forwarding on - doh!

Now all I have to do is go through about 50 HG's set up just for forwarding calls, and switch on VM only if the original user who forwards to them has VM themselves (around 50% don't)

I think I owe TheTaker another star for all that testing!
