I have a TN799DP board that when i enable filexfter the system is coming back telling me : not enough space on source board for filesystem size." When I do list directory for the board is show no file in memory/

Have you tried removing the TN799DP, waiting a few minutes, then re-installing it? If that doesn't help, you might need to reboot the switch, or at least a "reset system 2"

That is the next step reseating the C-LAN board will let you know how it come out.

Do 'list directory board [slot]'. If there are old files there that can be removed, do 'remove file board [slot] filename'.

what FW are you staging on the CLAN?
Example:
Valboard FW is too large for a CLAN and must be staged on the Valboard you are upgrading.

Code:
Note: the different HW 0 to 10 use FW h0 and HW 13 and greater use FW h13
The size of the FW for h13 and greater is 3 times larger
Make sure you are putting the correct file on the correct CLAN
Older clan capacity was just over 1MB.

This boards is a TN799DP HW01 with current firmware of FW37 - trying to place the tn799dp-h0-f40-sig.bin file upon the C-LAN board, the board that is tn799dp-hw01 - so i am using the corect firmware, matter of fact this system has 9 (nine) boards three are HW01 while the remaining are HW16 - so the firmware that comes back with not enough room on source board not enough room is the correct firmware on the correct board. The other two boards upgraded without issue.

good

reseat the board and try again or put the firmware on a board it will fit on and upgrade to the target board

never used another C-LAN board as source board for another C-LAN can you use another C-LAN as source for a different target board?

The TN799DP CLAN (as is the TN2501AP VAL, and the TN2602AP Media Processor), only support "self download", that is the file HAS to be on the same card you are upgrading.

Mitch, I found this in the documentation and it leads you to believe that newer versions of FW do not have the restrictions that you are talking about.

Have you seen this before or tried using a scp host for FW upgrades?

Download from SCP-enabled file server procedure
This section describes the procedures for installing firmware from a file server
that is enabled for Secure Copy (SCP) and is on the customer's network.
Note: This capability is available only on Communication Manager Release 3.1 or
higher.
Hardware/software requirements
The procedures in this section describe how to use a central firmware depository
on an SCP-enabled file server to update one or all of your non-self-downloadable
circuit packs and the following versions of self-downloadable circuit packs:
- TN799DP CLAN circuit pack, firmware version 17 or higher
- TN2602AP IP Media Resource 320, firmware version 20 or higher
- TN2501AP VAL circuit pack, firmware version 10 or higher
If the previously-identified self-downloadable circuit packs do not have the
minimum firmware version, you must upgrade them manually first using the
procedure in Self and C-LAN-distributed download procedure on page 4.
Signed files
In order to upgrade circuit packs using firmware from a file server, the
firmware images that you install must be signed according to SCP encryption
guidelines. Signed firmware images have filenames with the format
tnXXXXXX_fXX_sig.bin, where _sig indicates the firmware is signed. For example,
tn2602AP_f212_sig.bin would be the name of a signed firmware images for the
TN2602 circuit pack. Signed firmware image files may also be installed using the
manual process. Signed firmware image files for non-self-downloadable circuit
packs may be installed on the target circuit pack regardless of the version of
the previous firmware image.

Checking the firewall settings

To check the firewall settings, perform the following steps:
1. On the Maintenance Web page menu, under Security, select Firewall.
The Firewall Web page appears.
2. Verify that the Input to Server and Output from Server check boxes are
selected for snmp and snmptrap.

now that is interesting, will try if reseating doesnt work

reseating the C-LAN board cleared the issue, customer is allowing me to upgrade now so reseating board corrected the filesystem size issue,

thanks
