I'm running access 2000.
My validation text messages are not being displayed.

If I create a table, a field, or a form field validation rule Access won't let me break the rule but it won't show me the message.

I'm not sure if there is something I need to turn on in my access installation or if it's a windows problem (XP PRO) by the way.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Kalen

You mean you get no error message at all?

If so, long shot, do you have a dual monitor setup on XP, and the error message is being displayed on the second (now non-existant) monitor?

Richard

Correct, I get no message at all but it loks the cursor in the field until I correct the data.

I don't have two monitors.

I do have an older copy of the application (I wrote it) that displays the messages just fine.
I have been trying for days to figure out what is different between the two versions.

Weird...

Another long shot. Bring up the immediate window / debugger with CTRL-G

Type in
DoCmd.SetWarnings (True)

The settings to display warnings may be turned off.

Richard

Richard, thanks for your help.
Running DoCmd.SetWarnings (True) had no effect.

I have discovered that if I open my app without running the autoexec stuff I do get the error messages if I enter the table directly.
However, if I run my "Main" form and then return to the table maintenance my messages are gone again.

So something in my form and or VB behind the form is causing it.

I have been looking for any DoCmd, echo and/or db properties code and turning them off with no luck.

Any other ideas on what to look for?

Thanks a bunch, Kalen
