Feature Key Dongle issues

I'm having trouble with a USB dongle feature key not being recognized by the Feature Key Server. Permanent red X.

-Sentinel drivers are up to date.
-When plugged in, computer properly recognizes dongle as "SafeNet USB SuperPro/UltaPro".
-Same symptoms when tested on three machines, the Win2k3 server, WinXP, and Win7.
-Other Sentinel keys dongles work for other licensed applications (this office has several dongle-controlled apps).

Am I correct to assume the key server should change to "red box" as soon as the dongle is plugged in, or does that only happen when it's in communication with the IP Office? I'm not sure what I could be doing wrong here, and it has previously worked with these same computers/dongle.

This office also had some power issues over the Christmas holidays, with servers going down unexpectedly, and possibly (unconfirmed) power spikes. Is it possible the dongle has died? I've never known a dongle to break, but I guess it's theoretically possible.

Any suggestions on how to proceed? The office manager would really like his voicemail back, and I'm not sure what to tell him.

Thanks,
//Ryan

Thanks for the input h382.

I did ensure the sentinel drivers were up to date. As I said, this office makes heavy use of dongle-protected programs, so those drivers are always being updated. I also have tried a total of 10 different USB ports on three different computers, so that's not an issue either.

I'm learning toward it being a "dead" USB dongle, but that's such an unusual thing, I feel I must be missing something easy.

Yah, I got that one covered too :)

We are going to swap out our dongle for a new one from the vendor to see if that works.

If you have a 406v2 then go for a serial dongle!
No more driver hassle.

On the advice of our vendor, we are getting a serial dongle to plug right into the control unit. If it works as advertised, it should be MUCH more convenient :)

I have never had an issue with them, all they do is provide a serial number against which the licences are checked, not like many people think actually hold the licences :)
